Im contrasting ll’s faux outrage when someone does it and it benefits his club
How many times do you need it pointed out to you that Ball wasn't homesick.

If you just want to have a go at the team i follow, closer to the mark would be Dayne Beams.

And what i said stands, if Beams used the homesick card as the reason he wants out, then yes, i would love to see no-one pick him up, and every other player that uses that excuse, then i think we would see how legit these excuses are.

Do you get what i'm talking about yet?

The problem is more complex than it appears - for the player it's a question of maximizing their life, for the club - particularly with a 1st year player it's about the massive financial and organizational resources already expended in getting that player to AFL level.

As an earlier poster said the clubs are most likely at the point of having enough of this.

Geelongs conduct has a desperate feel about it I reckon. Why else would they pass up the opportunity presented by WCE's precious draft picks at the exact time their list is crying out for rejuvenation, all to keep a player for one last season?

Is the "one last shot at a flag" approach realistic with an aging Ablett, with Selwoods injuries catching up and Kelly disgruntled and simply biding time? Huge gamble.

How many times does it need to be pointed out to you that it doesnt matter whether hes homesick, likes the curry better in collingwood or owes rent on his current digs and the bikies are chasing him.

Why he wants to move isnt the important bit - its the least important bit
The important bit is that a player wants to move clubs and is bending his current team over to do it.

Obsessed with minutae much?

That was always going to happen with Mitchell. Clarkson sent the prodigal son off to another club to experience life at a different club before returning to the Hawks.

You can not compare a player to an assistant coach.
I wasnt aware there was a clause in his contract that said that

Because there wasnt.

Anyhow - the eagles just sent kelly off for experience at another club before coming home to the eagles.

Nix contract plz

Omg, it's like talking to a brick.

Ok then you go with what you like, but i'm not talking about players wanting to change clubs, i am only talking about ones that use the homesick excuse.

And this bit about it needs to be pointed out to me, where did that come from, please go and read my initial post, then go have a sleep.

Kelly wasn’t homesick.

Issue isn’t homesickness.

Talk about talking to a brick.

Strangely sam mitchell said his family really struggled in perth without their support network. Hes cut his contract short as well

Wouldnt take a job based in melbourne with us - has gone back to the hawks.

We of course wish him well and didnt hold him to his contract despite being an absolutely critical piece of our midfield puzzle.

Good point lol.

So then why did they choose WA?

Maybe Kelly wasn't homesick, but his missus is.

Anyway, the point is, i'd like to see if the homesickness excuses stop if teams stopped picking them up, that's all.

Well there you go, different.

Well stop picking them. If kelly was a Victorian, wce, freo etc would not have picked him up. I can guarantee you very clubs would have. Just so happens he turned out a player this time but often this destroys a player.

Yes it’s draft blah blah but clubs overlook players for personal issues all the time. That’s reality.

Instead of entering draft he could have also taken afl to court, won his case, destroy cap and draft and WCE would be the Manchester-f*c*+ng United of AFL. We could buy GFC with amount of cash we have and half of melb clubs would fold. Happy days.

So yeh, since we are talking about nuclear options, kelly had options apart from just not entering the draft.

My dog tried to fart yesterday and followed through.
