Same old shit.

"Moral/gutsy loss" that we saw in 2023, and last year.

THAT ISN'T ENOUGH ANYMORE.

Against a side that was half VFL.

We get close, then the PTSD of agony of losing kicks in and we mentally check out, allow the oppo to kick hilariously easy coast to coast goals.

Self-fulfilling prophecy.

Team fears winning.

It’s the same problems.

Failure to execute basic skills under little to no pressure.

Failure to prevent uncontested transition from the back half.

They’re never addressed and they continue to cost us.

Another nail in the mental coffin that’s this club.

Lack of 2 way running makes it so easy for them to pile of quick consecutive goals.

Our mids are so eager to push up and stream forward but no one wants to push back.

Yer, I’m not following why everyone is melting down? Last year we get smashed.

Not being switched on killed us, call it ring rust call it what ever you want, a lot to like there and to say otherwise is laughable.
They were missing their two best mids, their best defender and their best small forward.

Eminently winnable.

And we failed to capitalise. Again.

I really can't think of any positives from that horror show. We were playing against a hospital team that was begging for us to brain them in the second and third quarters. Instead, we constantly shat the bad when moving the ball forward and showed a complete inability to absorb offensive pressure. It's also concerning that the midfield we've invested a lot of high end draft capital into couldn't put a hospital midfield to the sword. That midfield was straight up less talented than ours and we still couldn't create a competitive advantage out of that disparity. I've been optimistic about the rebuild, but I think the end of last season when we waved the white flag for the entirety of the final two games + this monstrosity have killed my faith in it. I'd be happy to be wrong and we kill it for the next two months after a rough opening effort, but I just don't see what we're even doing after all these years.

Comben's negative IQ in defence is a massive concern. He contributed to the West Coast implosion last season with a brainless spoil into the corridor. I brushed it off at the time because of his inexperience, but how is he still making basic errors like that?

McDonald needs to go. He's beyond hopeless. Any player would be an improvement on him. Even playing with 17 players would be an improvement. He's a total black hole.

That was a debacle with very few positives aside from xerri who is a star. The backline conceded goals at will and were absolutely sickening. Did anyone of those hacks take a decent mark all night? Good luck to anyone who goes next week and sits through that trash- I can't do it anymore it's no good for my health.

We won’t go anywhere until we shake our loser mentality. Lack of movement off the ball. Lack of chase. Lack of passion and care.

The stench of the last few years is still prevalent, and it turns out trading away our first round pick doesn’t mean we are all of a sudden a winning football team.

Meh. As time continues to march on I'm pretty confident a whole generation of players have been (somewhat) broken by the number of nails already in the coffin. It's why it's so imperative we have wins, not just good games, this year. Sheezel and co have to reach all their milestones knowing how healthy football is played. They have to.

Effort was there for 3 quarters. Too many stupid mistakes cost us goals when we were on top in the middle quarters. Midfield needs more outside speed and less ball pigs. Forward mix was OK with Konstanty & RHJ. Back 6 is still diabolical.

Praise Jebus that FOS is a Shinboner.
Agree. Iam still not convinced we have the cattle to make an effective defense.

Hardeman , Dawson and bergman i dont think are in the frame either.

The backs weren't helped by the mids letting the Doggies run forward of the ball.

Lots more positives despite the disappointment of losing a winnable game. Some of young guns weren't as clean as they/we would like. We're a better watch this year though.

Performance was about what I expected. Competitive but never grabbed the opportunities. The dogs were there for the taking but we let ourselves down when it mattered time and time again.

Forward line functionality the biggest positive.

Defensive structure and effort remains mostly pus.

Should improve from here.
