Toby Whan is a South Fremantle 2025 prospect with a nice turn of pace, sidestep and a near flawless left foot kicking technique.

He is a top 15-30 prospect (maybe higher depending on form in the champs) who should form a superb midfield partnership with Fred Rodriguez at Souths next year.

Thanks to noobermensch for supporting players all over Australia. There is genuine excitement surrounding evry 18's squad for next year. A case could be made for all five.

As a Freo fan I'm bullish AF, but this video wasn't great for demonstrating his kicking.

Looking forward to watching him more next year.

That's one of the good things about these videos. Rather than being highlights they are player in focus packages containing good moments and bad from a particular game. So we get to see the things a player might need to work on.

I think his kicking action is pretty pure though. And I like how he, much like Fred Rodriguez, drives through the contest with intent and good speed. It says he is 182cm but I reckon that needs to be updated to about 184cm.

But yeah a lot to look forward to for the Bulldogs with Whan, Rodriguez, Taj Longmuir, Ivan Starr, Harry Heaton, Millar Rank among others from the 2007 group. It may be a chance for SF to challenge Claremont.

EDIT: And I musn't forget Lucas Robinson, the Fremantle NGA from SF, who is the Number 1 ranked WA prospect in the 2026 cohort. (for now at least) and I've still got high hopes for Basil Hart from Peel for 2025.

Courtesy of noobermensch it's our man Wes Walley just giving us a little sample of what he can do. It's a shame he didn't have his kicking boots on. They seek him here, they seek him there.

Check out all of the excellent Footy Stuff player in focus videos on the youtube channel

Anyone know if his old man is also named Wes Walley.

There was a Wesley Walley that played colts at Subiaco back in 1997

Awesome.

Swadling the big (or little, to match his height) name here.

Yeah he's getting known a bit thanks to noobermensch, Davo27 and yourself and the state 18's selectors also.

In fact, now is a good time play the video of Sam by noobermensch from a little while back. It fits well with Rodriguez, Whan and Walley.

Yeah, WA has a lot to choose from in 2025. Both, as you know are in the WA squad. I would think it will be difficult for Williams to get a game head of Walley, Evans and Hart. But he's smaller and is a left footer and quite probably (without looking at the stats) a better shot for goal than the other 3 right footers so he has a point of difference.

Seems like we might start getting some good value out of the WCE Academy. So far we only really have Dewar from it who’s looking like he could make it. Livingston showed some good signs but hard to see where he fits in as we are pretty stacked for talls.

Lawson Humphries looks like a miss but don’t think he was ready at the time we could have selected him.

Don’t think it’s just NGA players training with the AFL teams, Freo have Rodriguez training with them at the moment.
Freos two are afl academy players and they get divided up to afl clubs in their home state to train.

Eagles got their two nga and afl academy players with Walley and Evans.

The other would have to be eagles nga players to train with them.

My top 11 from WA next year and order think they will go in draft at this stage

1 Fred Rodriguez expect in top 5
2 Toby Whan expect him to end up top ten after playing mid in the championships and dominating
3 Cody Curtin around the 10 to 15 mark
4 Blake Kelly around 15 to 20 very underrated has lots of fans with eastern states recruiters
5 Sam Swadling around 15 to 20 my personal favourite
6 Marcus Cassidy around 20 to 25 medium forward who can break games open
7 Judd Marcello around 25 to 30 another that recruiters like
8 Charlie Banfield around 30 + depends where he plays next year, is just so clean one touch
9 Wes Walley Around 30+ depends on his championships
10 Koby Evans around 40 mark
11 Basil Hart around 40 mark

Should be extremely good year for WA drafting, would be surprised if all 11 are not drafted

Nice one mate.

I'm worried about Cassidy? Not in the WA summer squad.

Maybe he's got an injury or plays cricket like Will Malajczuk? Actually I noticed Malajczuk has been scoring a few runs in premier cricket and so has former WA 16's squad member Albert Esterhuizen.

Good summary. I’m also tipping Clancy Dennis to get taken in the MSD. Back training and will be ready for round 1.

Would be surprised if Malajczuk picks footy over cricket. He’s an absolute gun.

Yea that's a little concerning
But he is the type of big medium half forward/mid that always gets drafted
like Hynes this year has some star power
So as long as he plays championships next year will get drafted

I'd like to see Clancy start off in colts in 2025.

Max Rohr (CL) was sort of on the radar playing reserves in 2024 and made the WA squad as we know but he might have been better off coming back from the Champs and playing colts. Having said that Claremont can't fit everyone into their colts 23 such is their zone.

Another overager in Lucas Ravenhill (CL) must be on the radar. He wouldn't have made the WA summer squad unless a couple of AFL recruiters wanted him there.

He will dominate the national championships if he makes the final cut.
