Which players do you guys expect to return from injury for your Hawks game?

I dont know about the ins and outs, but the players who should be available for selection and would be likely inclusions are:

* Schofield
* Wellingham
* Butler
* McGovern (may be rested this week?)
* Lycett

sounds more like, difficult to run two QF on same day at same venue.
Doesn't happen.

One will be Friday night ...WCE v Hawks

Saturday arvo or sat twilight will be freo v swans

Freo get the extra day off as they finished higher ....oddly though this benefits swans also ...lol

That's old post stereo , heard some talk on radio a while back that both QF would be on the same day , to create a fair/even break within the top 4 that both teams would get for finishing 1st and 2 nd but probably a logistical nightmare in Perth .
Thank god. Imagine the melt of the Freo fans after they are walking out after a loss and we be walking in like, straight outta Finals.....

So now that the Saints are out of the way, how do we go about toppling the reigning premiers?

Will the weather (likely to be rainy/ windy) help us out?

How big an out for us is Masten?

How big an out for Hawthorn is Smith?

Will our midfielders benefit from Naitanui's silver service, or will the Hawks mids out-shark us?

How do we win this game?

The player who most needs to lift there performance from the last game vs the Hawks is Matt Priddis.

I have rarely seen him get beaten up on the inside, but Mitchell gave him a master class and it was telling in the end.

He needs to be on to feed the likes of Gaff and Shuey on the fly - as important as Naitanui is, the grunt will need to come from Priddis, needs to lift.

As much as I don't want us to be a one man team against Hawthorn I believe the road to victory is largely through Nic Nat and I think Hawthorn realise that to.

We sorely missed him in Round 19. In the lead up to that game he was the player I thought would give us a distinct advantage and when he was ruled out my personal hope in us beating Hawthorn was lost lost because he is such a massive point of difference. A point of difference again on Friday night.

Commissioner bring up an important point/ player in Priddis as well. Rarely gets beaten in contested play and we need him ready to burrow in and feed it to the likes of Shuey and Gaff

We need to tag Mitchell.

Had another 30+ touches last week, will tear us apart this week if let of the leash. He was the difference between the two teams in R19.

The Hawks preview thread is interesting. Plenty of posters advocating smashing into Govs shoulder repeatedly and hindering NN run up in the ruck. Lots of dirty comments all round. Not surprised given the fact their captain and club figurehead is a drunken thug.

Hawks are reminding me of Brisbane 2004. Brisbane wanted to do the tough stuff. Port just played the game and won the Premiership.

The one thing about this game is that the winner gets a week off, home final and arm chair ride into the GF.
This is the most important game of the year for both clubs and it goes without saying that Simmo and Clarko know this.

They will play unsociable football and will most definitely be going for Nic's body in the centre bounces and aim to shark his taps. Will also be giving Gov, Lecras and Cripps heaps to get them off their game.
The winner gets a week off to recover. The loser will be faced with such a big hill to climb to make it the the GF that they will most likely fail at the hands of a defensive and contested team like Freo or Sydney.

I think their experience and hardness will show and this game will be a taste of the big one.
Hawks know what needs to be done. All comes down to how we handle finals pressure and a more physical contest.

Our last 7 games have been against final 8 teams except St Kilda who took it to us in the first half and made us earn it and Gold Coast who did the same but for longer and edged out a draw.
We had our lazy wake up game last week against a red hot Adelaide.
A Sydney win, Hawks loss, Freo win, Dogs win amongst those 7 weeks.

A decent run of hard games, while missing key players and with only two lots of travel.

This Friday both teams go in with 6 day breaks after having played at home, with the Hawks travelling to us.
If Simmo can get us up, and I don't doubt that he will, then we will win.

With the defensive pressure and the web working well it leaves it to 'first one to 100 wins' with NicNat being the difference.

GO EAGLES!
