Tactically dead in the water.

Opponents have cracked what remains of the 2018 gameplan.

Now they stack the corridor and wait to pick off the second possession and counter all too easily.

The Eagles defence just continues to stay in place, waiting for an intercept opportunity that now never arises - all the while their counterparts drift up the ground, put blocks on the West Coast midfielders around stoppages and provide the spread to play checkers with the Eagles' defensive zone.

Offensively, because the defence hold their ground there is zero overlap run from behind that can create an opening to go through the corridor - leaving the only option for ball movement to be down the wing where the opponent is waiting with an outnumber, resulting in a turnover and counterattacking opportunity as the Eagles give the opponent those extras positioned through the corridor.

The nature of the static defence has been hurting this team for the past three years - now it is outright killing it.

Time to go man-on-man defensively to restore a semblance of credibility from this absolute embarrassment.
The only time i have seen Simmo change this is after the horror start in the hub last year, Nelson, Duggan, and Cole were pushing alot higher up the ground providing run and overlap it worked and we got our season back on the line. I wonder why we reverted back to our old system? Is it McGovern do we set our whole game plan around him?he never leaves the 50

He was out last year when the changes were made. We have looked better this year when Hedwards was in for Gov hes more man on man.

McGovern is a net negative and they pay him $1.2 million a year as well. He was great a few years ago but he has been one of the worst KPD's in the league the past 2-3 years and he is getting paid as the 3rd best player in the league......pretty unlucky that the game evolved and has made him so bad at the same time when he signed a huge contract. Unlucky for WC that was, very unlucky

Honestly, this team is just weak as piss, have been for a few seasons now.

All future contracts need to have a fitness standard that players need to adhere too to keep they're pays as high as some of our marshmallow players have.

Do any of our players actually hit the gym in the offseason and make their bodies tuff as nails before season proper?

None can hold a tackle. All body, never try lock an arm down.
None can break a tackle.
Ground ball is pathetic.
Rely on 2-3 players to spoil or mark balls instead of just a single player crashing the pack, then having that extra one or two players at ground level.

**** not even a coach and can see how much this team is in tatters.
