Gaff 8 tackles? Is another Burgiel goal situation

I've always said - Gaff CAN'T tackle because he's too slow, but he gives his all as can be seen when he enters a slower paced WAFL.

Sheed on the other hand WON'T tackle - there is no way he should be back in the 22 until he proves he is willing to defensively set an example to the newer players.

Hi ya I went to the game today and watching your Magoo's just blew my mind.
Now I don't know much about how your club is structured in regards to its WAFL side but I have to think your guys have access to coaching and resources beyond what Swans do.
How on earth do you guys get beat up for structure, game plan and fitness like what happened today?
This is not meant to denigrate, I would just like an explanation as to how what happened today could actually have happened.
The first half was Eagles pushing a high line and getting caught on the turnover with Swans taking there chances, Eagles working much harder as a unit in the third to give themselves a chance, but the fourth was a complete failure of system and worse, fitness and effort. Something does not seem right to me.

Bit disappointing there wasn't a standout performance from anyone to really put the pressure on the senior team this week.

Gaff sounded meh, but unfortunately who knows what they're after with him. If they want touches then he ticked that box, but impact on the game, absolutely not.

Barnett needs to build at this level. Hall was unsighted for long periods, only 18 touches.

Dewar did ok, but 2 goals from 11 disposals isn't enough. Rawlinson 3 goals probably the most promising, but that was all in 1 quarter as well.

Was hoping someone would be kicking the door down. Looking forward to Culley getting back.

Losing by 10 goals to one of the weaker (i think but we'll see) WAFL sides going around doesn't bode well considering most were saying this was a pretty strong ressies side
We just don't have a midfield in the wafl .

Barnett trew gaff and hall with dewar and Baker running through.

With such a stiff breeze we just didn't have the running power through the middle to kick goals to the non breeze end .

Get culley and sheed in the guts for a few weeks and we may be more competitive

We really need another tall target in attack . We had to swing ruscoe forward We looked so much more dangerous when Beagles had jack Williams as the focal point .

Archer Reid would give us some structure

Geoff my boy this has been happening for 3 years and this has just come to your head?😂
Mate can't say I have been following your WAFL team to closely and yesterday was the first time I have seen them live and it was quite a shock to me. It possibly is not to you guys who watch more closely, but what I would like is an explanation as to how a team with better resources and coaching can be so far off the mark.

SD at Bassendean are always tough to beat , this year should be in the finals especially if Sydney Stack plays most of the season , plus other Geelong imports and a good zone in Bunbury ....they should be top 4 .

14 touches and 3 goals is an excellent senior debut for Rawlinson, good stuff.

EDIT: the stats have changed on the WAFL app this morning? Loch up to 17, Gaff 32, Dewar 13 etc.

They're still the same on the website though?
This happened sometimes last year from memory where they’ll change the stats after the fact on the app (maybe after a re-watch) but they stay the same on the website.

I tend to trust the app more because it does seem like they recount the stats properly after the final siren

You haven’t noticed they get beaten by 100points most weeks? Going off last year yesterday was a step in the right direction 😂

Our wafl side is made up of our 2nd string Eagles players and ammo's.

Apart from 1 or 2 "marquee" signings we can't have any previous wafl players or target players from other clubs or leagues like the VFL or Sanfl .

Once we start getting 50/50 eagles to ammos we really struggle .

Yesterday we had 11 afl listed players and trey ruscoe who was our marquee signing .

Of those afl listed players 3 were cat B rookies Dewar , Baker, livingston

3 regular rookies Hedwards , trew and rawlinson

More than half of the afl listed players were from the very bottoms of their draft class and also very young playing against mostly seasoned bodies .

Saying that we had some horrible turnovers and poor play by some of our more experienced afl listed player who will probably be in the delist pile at seasons end .

Also our midfield was almost non existent for large parts of yesterday
With Barnett and Livingstone both baby talls and midfielders comprising of rookies and a cooked gaff

Was surprised to hear Dewar on got 11 touches (or even 13), felt like he had a lot more watching it.

100% what I thought when I saw the stat. Dewar seemed to pop up everywhere around the ground, but perhaps it was some 1%s as well that don't get recorded

Thanks for the explanation mate, I was not aware of the restrictions around targeting players, I can see that that setup over the medium to longer term would affect the club as a whole.

Fair enough, but my main point is not the what, it's the why?

Why do we get smacked in the WAFL every week? Our squad depth is horrid, and most of the top up players put around that horrid depth probably wouldn’t get a game at WAFL reserve level let alone league level. It probably doesn’t help either they are trying to play a game style that is high risk high reward. Which fails because the skills are so poor. At the end of the day you gotta start somewhere and if we continue to get 8-12 players in our WAFL side each week will start to see improvement, we averaged 2-3 players in our WAFL side last year at times we only had 1(Dewar played every game).

I did notice the commentator did mention him a lot more then the other players, raved about him every time he got the ball.

The App is correct. Website won’t update from my experiences.

This is a common occurrence and it’s ****ing frustrating.
