Anyone see the Culley incident?

Surely he’s not done something stupid again to get himself suspended…
Went back to check the replay to find it. best I can see it's at 2hrs 6min 10sec in the last.
Had just disposed of the ball and a oppo player came in and impeded him so he gave him a tap to the gut to break free from what I can see.
didn't look like much in it. fine at best.

Just as an update on Culley -

West Coast midfielder Jai Culley has accepted a reprimand for striking during the WAFL Eagles’ last home and away game against Claremont on Saturday.
Culley was reported for an incident involving the Tigers’ Benjamin Elliot at Revo Fitness Stadium.
It was assessed as a low-level offence based on the available evidence, resulting in a reprimand with an early guilty plea and Culley will be available for the start of next season.

They probably said the same about a national competition well into the 80s.

Well it seems you may be right mate, Brad Hardie said yesterday that AFL reserves is a very real possiblity within the next TV rights.

When I am wrong I am wrong.

Will be very sad for the WAFL and WA football.

Agree with Wiley that that’s what needs to happen.

Whether it actually happens is another matter.

GWS will be interesting the quality of those non AFL players in the Freo and WCE reserve sides.....obviously a lot of under 22 players who missed out on getting drafted or the recently delisted. Could see a lot of rinse and repeat off cuts from other AFL lists too. Can't see many of the good WAFL players getting involved....unless the pay is good of course.

It will come down to what they pay for sure. Any players over 25 who has not been drafted and is a very good WAFL player will probably not be interested.

For the players you mentioned that is exactly what will happen, a bunch of very average players will be sold a dream to fill up spots not knowing that the AFL club really only want them their to fill a team.

The reality will be that the AFL seconds will be basically a colts team learning the AFL caper. The AFL will market it as second tier but I would still doubt any of those teams would beat top WAFL or SANFL teams. But if they want to pay the money they may be able to convince the best WAFL and SANFL players to play.

I had a good look at my own club West Perth and thought who would the Eagles and Dockers try to get from our side and I came up with about 2 players from our league team. Our best players are 25 and over, and a few of our players under 25 have been on an AFL list and been dumped so they will have no interest.

Time will tell i guess. Interesting times.

Interesting the West are reporting that the Eagles are trying to get Mitch O’neill back to play for the Wafl side….

The WAFL team is a basket case. Few of our AFL guys are dominant when they play at WAFL level. In contrast Freo’s AFL listed guys regularly dominate the WAFL. Often the poor performance of our AFL guys has been explained away by blaming the “amateur” guys. But when I’ve watched, some of the “amateurs” like Hansen, Deegan and Creasey have been among our best and most determined. And when we’ve put out teams with a majority of AFL listed guys they still get thumped.

Questions need to be asked about whether our development group are up to the task, and whether Wiley is the man to coach them. I know of Wiley’s playing record but what are his coaching credentials?

Assistant coach under Worsfold for the 2006 premiership, former director of coaching at Carlton under Malthouse, coached Perth for two seasons in the 80s and East Freo for three seasons between 2016 and 2018, albeit not with a lot of success at those stops.

With Nelson being delisted i wonder if he will be recruited for the Beagles.Meets the rquirements as to being from outside W.A.Big question is if another Afl club is interested or the go home factor.
