Well in that case if Parker wants to come home we'll offer our fourth rounder otherwise he can walk in the draft. Wouldn't anyone do that?
The problem you are going to have is every team in Melbourne will offer something for a 20 year old star mid. He's a lot better than Josh Caddy and look how many teams went after him.

Happened to us with Luke ball. And we had to take a crappy trade or lose crips to the draft for nothing. It can be done.
Luke Ball was barely making your team and couldn't kick over a jam tin due to a bad groin vs a 20 year old with no injury worries.

Yes, but Cripps was not performing at the level that Parker is.
And then he nominated one club in a two-club city.
We offered what we could, we didn't have anything else to give.
I think you are letting emotion cloud your reasoning.
The Luke Ball incident was unfortunate, but he put a price on his head that no one else would match.
It didn't reflect well on Collingwood, either.
But Parker would have to put something ridiculous on his head to stop any other Melbourne club from taking him before you.
Melbourne would take him in a heartbeat. He'd improve their midfield straight away.

For the record I'd be more than happy to trade Gaff or our 1st pick + fringe player for Parker.
A high endurance link-man like Gaff would be a real asset to us, and West Coast are obviously looking for that real tough inside midfielder. We'd obviously want to keep Parker but if he wanted out a swap like that would be quite fair. A lot closer than Gilbert.

I wouldn't think Parker would want to up and move to Western Australia tho but it is a pretty good trade both teams would be happy.

Certainly a consideration.
Many feel that Swallow is underperforming, while others think he is merely being played out of position.
Regardless, ATM he is not as good a prospect as Parker.
He might be under performing for his pick 1 status but I think he's doing ok and he's a clearance mid from WA a lot more chance of landing him.

Stats don't mean much. It is impact that matters.
I have Parker competing for a position in my top 50 ATM.
Swallow (of the David variety) is not.

You'd probably have to draft one, we'll trade you pick 2 for Gaff and you can take your pick of the best inside mids in this draft ;).

Would you give pick 2 in the draft for Gaff?
We'd probably pick up someone like Aish then.
Not purely inside but too hard to go past.
Then we could look at a pure mid with our pick around-10ish like Crouch to compliment him.

Well, admittedly I'm biased because I went to school with him...

He was a big Demon fan, he was perfectly capable of winning inside ball as a junior, he's got great skills and is a hard worker and will have about 65 games at the end of the year.

Yeah, I'd give up pick 2 - it's a slight risk in terms of maybe being able to get a better player through the draft, but he's played a fair bit of good footy at WCE.

Shane Tuck? Knows how to find and win the ball - probably a slightly older and less skilled version of Priddis. Not sure if he will go on next year and given his age and being settled in Melbourne, not sure he would be tempted to move interstate.

Other than that, can't think of any other players on our list we might want to trade. Was Koby Stevens an inside midfielder?

Stevens isn't a genuine inside mid but he can get in there for the clearances
