We might actually have some real depth this year. Xon and foley need to pull their fingers out in a big way if want to be on the list next year with the kids we’ve got coming through threatening to overtake them already.
Foley is tracking OK as a half back I reckon. Hough is his main competition and I'm sure we want to push him up the ground.

I actually reckon Gaff will be playing WAFL this season.

Chesser and Hewitt and then there Gibney aswell hunting down his spot.

Gaffs too one dimensional and soft going backwards in his career.
After that performance he'd want to play well next week or without injuries i can't see how he can be selected rd 1. Chesser and/or Hewitt can replace him straight away

Culley didn’t seem to play after half time.

Probably finished with about 8 touches and a goal which from a half isn’t too bad.

Culley was on the bike for the second half and didn’t come on

Genuine warmth from him towards Petch when he came to the bench after that ripping goal.

Spirit between the players was really good

Players are clearly fitter so good sign there. Not sure on the centre square work, got smacked for most the night, still far too reliant on NN dominating with no plan when we have to concede the hitout. That's on the coaching so hopefully there's a plan.

Sooner we move past Gaff the better sorry to say. Current game has gone past him

Feeling pretty good after watching that. Port are going all in this year, Hinkley’s career demands it.

Port definitely moved the ball more cleanly than we did, but we looked to move it quickly which was what we have been waiting for.

It’s crazy that he looks in the best nick of his career but still looks miles off it. The game has just passed him by and what was previously a competition beating trait (elite endurance) is now just a prerequisite of any player his size. There’s plenty of players now with his endurance, or better, with twice the pace and power

So did the 6 quarters get thrown out or is that next week?
Players are still out there. Some of our Beagles topups going to the port bench to make up numbers

Has Culley remained a bit underwhelming or worked into the contest a bit more? I kind of thought he’d be a real goer this year and talked up heaps this pre season. Great signs from Hewett it sounds like & I’ve every faith Ginbey will rule, has heaps of confidence that he can figure for us from the get go
Underwhelming but it is only a practice match i keep hearing.

Exactly. He had a good run for 7-8 years but age and new age players have caught up to him
