Does she want a Hungry Jacks franchise?Soft cap is the issue, we could easily afford it otherwise.
The standard of play in the GF has been really good.
It's scary how far off the pace we are.
Don't agree with the standard at all, scrappy stuff and girls couldn't pick up the ball or handle it cleanly.
Thought the umpiring was terrible too, as they didn't pay the many kicks where players were scragged or held without the ball, and that led to the scrappiness of the whole affair. Wasn't a good advertisement for the game.
Intensity was strong, and I agree with your last point, we, the WCE, have a bit to do.
Same old AFLW problem, too much congestion. The players skills are fine, they're just given no chance to execute when they have 0.03 of a second before they get tackled. When the players only kick the ball 30 meters, the zone defence stands real close together, leaving no room and turning the game into rugby. It's the biggest structural difference between AFL and AFLW, and the AFLW don't have a solution yet.Agreed about the umpiring - I didn't find it scrappy though, more just intense pressure - was interesting watching the styles of a more hardened team in Brisbane always be second to the ball but nail the tackles and grind things down vs North trying for cleaner clearances that looked great when coming off, but lost effectiveness when the legs tired. Little bit similar to how Sydney used to play us in the 05/06 finals games.
The decision making of all the players out there was leagues above our standard - when to keep feet vs go to ground, spread vs man up, spoil vs mark etc. Probably not a particularly insightful or left-field observation to compare their coaching and footy smarts to ours but was the biggest gap IMO
Wonder if the realisation that Zippy Fish didn't want to stay here had any role in this? Daisy as the WC coach might change her mind. Might make it easier to get good Eastern States players over, too. Here you go - WCE chasing Pearce as senior coach for the AFLW side
Seems a long shot but she has history with Cowan. In a good way

Dude, just beat me to it!
A few highly touted picks have gone national in the draft and I hear there’s some interest there from WCE.
Not just looking at the WA talent, which is very pleasing.
Might be a surprise first pick
And if the info in the draft forum board is correct, Srhoj, Slocombe and Henry have nominated National as well so might not go to WA clubs.A few highly touted picks have gone national in the draft and I hear there’s some interest there from WCE.

Thanks Biggie for posting that list.
Wow the number of girls that have nominated for National Selection is huge.
Shows how the new pay deal has significantly altered the drafting landscape.
Biggie - any more snippets of news as to how the Coach search is going ?
I would be hoping that the news of who the next Coach will be could be known before the full draft and trade period.
My understanding is that there are four Coaching positions that need filling:
Collingwood
Doggies
West Coast
And I can’t remember who the fourth Club is !
