eagles got up by 22 against t'gon. 68 to 46.
Looked a bit scratchy in the first half, yet only thing they werent on top of was the scoreboard with some inaccurate kicking. Found form in the second half and ran away with it.
Good signs for the boys

Maffra down from $12 last week to $2.25 in the flag odds...Who is this Steve Hazelman? ah recruit of the year apparently...wow Tgon made a mistake! I never saw him in the North gippy but he definately did not turn the game on it's head with his single figure stats and hairstyle! Really looks the goods ey!

"write off maffra at your own peril". very first sentence of todays gippy times. Couldn't agree with it more after seeing those odds.
On the topic of Hazelman, the man is an absoulte joke. Didnt pay attention to him in the first half, he certainly wasnt doing anything to warrant monitoring i must say. Second half decided to pay a bit closer attention to his performances. I dont know if he was pre match or what becuase he simply refused to run defensive when the pressure was on the maroons in the third term. Spent most of his time jogging round the centre square looking lost. didnt capitalise on his lack of run defensively by turning it into an attacking move either.
The few occasions he managed to get the pill in his hands he was slow to dish it off, always releasing under pressure hence putting pressure on his team mates.
Mid way through the last term yet again in the middle of slowly dishing off the ball a solid/fair hit from kelvin porter had him winded or something causing him to sit the rest of the match out when his side needed him the most.
Maybe coming back to tgon the level is too quick for him and he is better suited in North gippy?

If you actually care to read through this thread you will find that Hazleman dislocated or Jared his knee and he wasn't even likely to play a game for the season 2009. So maybe he has an excuse to be a little hazy (just like your spelling) to start off with.

He also won the North Gippsland league medal quite convincingly last year... If you don't already know..

Having said that i can see what is being said about him by yummy, against heyfield last year Hazelman didnt have an impact. He looked to me a good player but a bit of a downhill skier...attacking but not very defensive.

sale had a loss i hear... anyone got any info

The facts are - Leongatha will be a good side this year. There kids have now played 50+ games of senior football and they have recruited well. There full-forward is a GOOD player. Sale has a side that could beat anyone?? but also could loose to almost anybody as there kids are young. I haven't seen a game but looking at their side Sales midfield is the key but no real forward to consistently destroy the opposition. I would like to see Cox at Full-Forward. He would be hard to man up on and is well proven as a goal kicker. Laverty, Love, McLay, McLay, Cross, Hames are good enough to win plenty of the footy and Cox could kick 60+ goals. JUst a thought. Opinions??????

downhill skier?? How many senior games have you played in the west gippy?? you looked like a sloth when you played.

hazelman can play. I think the hype coming from the latrobe valley regarding how good trarlgon might be was built up abit to much. They found out on the weekend how good the mighty maffra machine is. To many people wrote maffra off after last year. Maffra had a year where they couldn't find momentum and were always going to be very good this year. Year after year maffra give themseleves every oppurtunity to win it. That is why they have the best record over the last 6 years.
trarlgon continue to harm themselevesby living in their past glories when they were unbeatable.

I prob did!!! That is a compliment...haha. That has nothing to do with my OPINION. I am better observer if i play at a higher level then???? The facts were that Heyfield didn't lose to Gormandale and he didin't play well, the games he went well were when they won...i never said he wasn't a good player, i just think his defensive skills could be better.

I understand your expressing your OPINION but you still havent answered my question?? Its alot easier to sit on the sidelines and judge a player who isnt performing! But some players have injuries and that could be the factor why there defensive skill's are not up to scratch and espcially when hazelman is still adjusting to wglfl pace. Its alot different to North gippy.

Didn't you know Nuggett that the only reason people listen and read opinions made by Bruce McAvaney, Mike Sheehan, Caroline Wilson, Mark Robinson, Tim Lane and Stephen Quaterman are that they all played in 5 premireships, 300 AFL games, 4 times Brownlow medalists and all coached multiple AFL premireships.
When you can do all these things Nuggett1985 then only then can you have a opinion. HAHAHA

Daniel Stubbes didnt have too many problems adjusting mate, i think he only kicked seven in his first game for Maffra from Sale City. I am not judging him on this year i am judging from last year, re read the posts, before you shoot your mouth off.

Ohh didnt realise that when you have to run in the backline you have to run faster to get back there because its in a higher standard league. Defensive skills are alot more than just running in to the backline, they include a wide variety of aspects of defensive football.

Its ok to back up your high profile recruits....but i would have thought as a player coach at that standard of football, injury or injury free that he would need a few games to adjust. It probably would be expected at that level that you were a star ie Burgiel and Cox.

Also, i am going off what has been said on these forums this year and can not formally make an opinion on this year until i see him, but judging by your defence of him he must have struggled on the weekend....

Thoughts anyone on Cox from Sale playing Full-Forward to help the side kick a score big enough to win games each week. I think he would cause a problem similar to the great Adrian @ maffra. Put a tall on him and to quick and put a small on him and not strong enough.
Sales midfield would still be good enough to win the ball out of the middle so i can't see a reason this year not to do it. I think he played full-forward at his last club but might be wrong.
Thoughts???????????????

she was stiff. It happened in the great hopscotch match of '81. She was trying to go from square 5 to 6 and her foot slipped on a pebble. Tragic!! all the boys at school laughed and that is why she hates men today. It also explains what happend to her teeth.

McAvaney was also stiff as he got shin splints at a young age and refused to be a girl and get them rubbed out. If only he listened to the school nurse, he could have been special!

Is that why fraser is playing forward???

Certainly if he gets tagged yes, playing more up forward would help them kick bigger scores.

As a full forward one out similar to Martin as you have mentioned above he could kick a bag for the resons you have stated

considering i hate tralgs, and play against them. your writing off a bloke already when there is alot of footy to play.
you cant compare him to the burgiels because they are the best of the best going around country footy.
Shooting my mouth off?? I think you need to relax a bit.
