Western Australian State Cricket Team: Treble Winners. Again

Confirmed, Brody Couch on a 2yr deal. Vics had offered him the same but he's chosen a fresh start in WA.
Spent a few seasons at Geelong CC before crossing to Northcote and taking 31 wickets this season.
Wonder where in the pecking order he'd sit considering our never ending stocks?

He was behind Perry, Siddle, Sutherland, Boland, O'Neill, Elliott and McClure at a minimum in Vic, but he's talented.

I'm looking forward to Goodwin as well.
And hopefully Wasley surpassing the Wyllie hype.

Rocchiccioli now the no 1 spinner across both formats, as he should be
Largely unproven in the one day game. Cooper Connolly hopefully gets first try as I seriously rate his left arm orthodox in the format. Added bonus being he's a genuinely good number 7 unlike penis head Agar.

For whatever reason they seemed very reluctant to bowl him last year, both in Marsh Cup and in the BBL.

Stoin convinced Agar to give the State cricket contract away and focus on the T20 circuit. Makes sense really.

One way to convince yourself why you aren't getting selected in the Shield and Marsh teams I guess.

Obviously a development call, but still a strong vote of confidence in Mahli.

(Fingers crossed the serial killers on the national S&C team don't cripple him before the season starts.)

Can see Bryce Jackson lining up against the bulls next week along with Brody Couch both fast arm medium ..both of them might play plus Gannon and Kelly most likely one out of Jackson or couch will play ...stobo in the mix as well along with Roccho

Jhye Morris both will be managed....like seriously what's the F**king point either play or don't getting sick of this s88t

Paris already has a FF**KEN calf and Haskett has stress fractures

Going to be huge challenge for Voges this year..managing the quicks

CA will manage them to an inch of their life and still not pick them this summer.

I feel like fast bowlers (except Bruce Reid) were more durable before the sports science of load management stepped in...

Are today's young quicks made of paper mache or has sports science just ****ed up along the way?
If anything they're more durable, Cummins, Starc, Hazelwood played all 7 tests last summer which is unheard of. Cummins had his troubles early in his career though.

There was probably more of a culture of sucking it up and bowling through injuries more back then. Lillee's career nearly ended before he turned 25 because of it. McDermott, Alderman, Harris, Lee, Gillespie all lost years off their careers because of bowling-related injuries.

The only exceptions seem to be Thomson and McGrath whose major injuries came from non-bowling mishaps. McGrath's style obviously didn't put his body under a lot of stress. I've heard from a coach who was around back then that Thomson's action was why he mostly kept out of trouble. He also said Jhye Richardson's is why he's always on the physio table.

I suspect injury prone fast bowlers were simply weeded out earlier in the past. Improved sports science and load management means we nurse them further along before realising they are not up to the strain. Being a fast bowler is difficult.

The bowlers today get more of a chance to make it but then the disappointment is greater given they get so close before injury pulls it away.

Looking at the squad that has been picked for the second XI, I’d suspect our first team might look like this to begin with:

Bancroft
Whiteman
Goodwin
Marsh
Cartwright
Connolly
Inglis +
Kelly
Stobo
Couch/Gannon
Rocc

Second XI:

Wyllie
Fanning
Short
Turner
Curtis
Critchell
Holt +
Agar
Richardson
Vernon
Beardman

Unavailable: Morris (managed), Paris (calf), Haskett (back), Green (back), Hardie (quad)
