Heard there was no Johns for Heywood, no J.Imbi for Portland among a heap of others. Can ya confirm?

No Johns for Heywood which was a little disappointing.
Big Mal looked to mark strongly up fwd. Not sure who in the league is going to be able to stop him.

Fairly good days play before the rain came.

I tend to agree w KOBH too a certain extent, all sides take the pre-season comp differently some send genuine lists over some will send there kids over. To send (if true) basically a magoo's side over is a lil degrading and some what dissapointing.
It was a given that new coach Darren Dean of Millicent would send over his best squad sprinkled w a mix of promising 3rds and some seconds players but a team wholely and solely of two's players is a bit hard to believe...oh well different strokes fa different folks.

I would've thought with Heywood and Hamilton both on two wins, and the team to make the final decided on %, Heywood would've went in...
Because of Hamilton not getting any % for Casterton not scoring in the first game....(?)

Are you joking about the percentage???
They just divide the combined points for by combined points against to work out the percentage.

Because Casterton sent over their *******s, Heywood had to score 20 goals to qualify for the final.

Staggers me how many people do not know this simple formula for how percentage works.
And it wasn't just that Casterton sent mostly magoos, it was more the fact they didn't even send a full side of magoos. The Cats only had 16 players there total for the two games, which is a disgrace, and the league should wack them for their utter disrespect towards the other nine teams, the host club and more importantly the major sponsor of the event.

At last the footy is finally here.
Really looking fwd to round 1 and an idea of how the comp will go this year.

Even...Still think South & Portland will be the benchmarks then it'll be a log jam for the remainder of the top 5 positions. Sides near the foot of the ladder could still be a game or two from finals football; who knows...thats how it might turn out.

From a Millicent point of veiw, whilst they won it they were still not full strength; atleast 4-5 to come back in or push for r1 selection.

Good to see Hamilton went well today. Does anyone know who played well for Hamilton. Also how did the big recruits go for Heywood?
Apparently one of the big money players (and I mean BIG MONEY) in Mark Bradley played,he is a big ruckman played for South Adelaide in the SANFL a couple of years ago and played for Ironbank I think thats the name of club in the Adelaide Hills leaque last year and won the league medal and apparently has been playing in Darwin. Good to see Grant R doing what he did at West. This means that Hamilton will have a strong thirds side can`t see many getting a go in the seniors with the number of players he is rumored to be trying to buy

Any word out of the Mt Gambier teams? I'm only new to Big Footy. I grew up in the Mt playing for North but moved up here to Adelaide for Uni and have since stayed.

My folks moved over to Warrnambool 2 years ago so since them my WBFL knowledge has dried right up.

It'd be good to see Heywood do alright, as long as I can remember they've been ordinary. It'd also be good to see someone other than South and Portland take home the silverware (I was ever so pleased to hear East got knocked off in the GF last year, even if it was to South again).
South will be strong again have recruited some good players, West have a couple back from the SANFL in Wilson and Holmes, Holmes could be doubtful with that knee injury he got at Glenelg rumor has it he is still struggling with it. They don`t have any real talls in the side and New Coach Keith Ransom will struggle in that department. East have lost a lot of Senior players after the losing the GF Last year have not recruited that much thus far but have Shem Balshaw back, but will player a lot of the Under 18`s this year. Millicent have recruited well and should be around the mark. And for your side North the new Coach in Justin McConnell from Glenelg looks OK they have Steve Hunter, Jamie O`Neil returning back to the club, they also have recruited a couple of Lucidale boys as well and also should be around the mark

Looking fwd to the match up against Smith.
Johns from Heywood, whilst not present in the pre-season cup should be running out round 1.

Do you know who is is rumored to be trying to recruit? Hamilton have lost a lot of players over the past 2 years due to poor running of the club

They are leaving it a bit late if this is the case. Most players are already signed to a club by now.
You may get one that you pick up through circumstances ( ie. Nick Johnston returns home from interstate) but to recruit numerous players would be on the side of wishful thinking. IMO

What player should we look at on this saturday at the west gambier and heywood game

for heywood aside from the 4 big recruits i think local players ben millard and alan martin are 2 to look out for. martin a tall marking defender and millard a skillful wingman.
for west you cant go past jarred ryan. pace to burn along with a great vertical leap and goal sence
