ha ha ha ha ha thought that would get you heywood supporters going...
You guys just need to settle down and relax there is no doubt that heywood will be up there this season, I just hope that heywood can hang on to some players for more then one year, it would be good to see them put in some good seasons back to back.

The only way Brown or any of the Full Forwards in the WB would beat Mal would be if Mal has been stung by a 200ft bee and blown up to the size of a small house. If he is still in pretty good shape, then no hope.

Casterton vs Portland
West Gambier vs Heywood
East Gambier vs South Gambier
Millicent vs North Gambier
Hamilton Imperials vs Hamilton

Rd 1 predictions.

Would like to think that the Saints are a big chance to knock North off in the Firs Round, especially at home. Have gaine some good recruits in Robbins, Egan, Rehn and I reckon Bryant will be okish. Lost Bennett which will hurt.

PLus Norths coach hasnt had his clearance approved yet. Heres hoping he doesnt make Round one.

yeah be gre@t to see heywood win a premiership this year. Go lions 10'!

I think the Lions supporters would be happy with even just one season of success given their history. Best of luck to them.

You know, when I read your first post I assumed you were taking the piss and trying to wind up the Heywood supporters. And yep, Heywood does need more than a forward line. But from all reports there are more than just the four big names who have gone to Heywood this year, a lot of past Heywood players have returned. And those big key forwards will allow other players to move into other positions.
When you consider Heywood's Billy Bell had a good battle with Browny at times over both of those seasons you are quoting Brown as kicking 70 in, I imagine one of the AFL's best key defenders of the past decade might go ok.
You've earned your alias champ.
Who are the past players returning........ Any quality?

I think we can now officially open the can of 'woop ass'.
Good luck rest of the comp.

SHUT THE GATE.

It is now a matter of who Heywood play in the grand final.

Woh back there bolter, there's no one who would like to see the Lions make the big one than me, except maybe Craig Keating, but lets not start getting ahead of ourselves.
From no wins in two and a half seasons it is a little presumptuous to book in a place in the grand final as early as March. Lets look at snagging a win first, then aim at finals, then grand finals, then premierships and then total world domination and lets keep it in that order:D

Hope for Heywoods sake the transfer list on the WBFL site is incorrect.....Courtney Johns from Heywood to the NTFL.

i think maybe cos johns is still playin in the NTFL for the tiwi bombers maybe he had to get a clearance back to them........there season is over summer.

Who are the past players returning........ Any quality?
Jason Walker- Played at Portland last year, up with the fittest at the club at the moment, awesome skills.
Clint 'boofa' Foster- Played at Koongoorong last year, again very fit, very quick.
James May- Originally from Darwin, super smart, super tough, great skills
Joey and Harry Saunders- Both good skills, Harry more of an in-and-under, Joey a run and carry..

Probably a couple more I can't think of at the minute...

ben millard, fred saunders, ben and josh nash all returning to the club, matt neave another in from the south west league

Good news if Johns was only getting a clearance to play up North before the WBFL season begins.

I think the key for Heywood wont be the big name recruits. But the guys who are returning to the club or lesser known. No good having Big Mal, Fuller and Johns playing with a team of scrubs.

Looks good for Heywood, cant wait to see them play. They deserve some success and I hope they get it this year.

You are right about it being the 2nd and 3rd tier players that'll make the difference for the club. So in saying that, what do you make of this theory; I heard a whisper that the newly appointed Heywood coach has assigned only certain players to kick the ball during training. It was in response i believe to him leaving training in disgust after the clubs skills during a training session? Surely this cant actually work?

Any news from any clubs about up-coming prac-matches?

Portland had a praccy game on the weekend i believe. Against Koroit, and accounted for them comfortably im told.

If thats true about Heywood training that sounds very, very weird indeed. I could see the players getting themselves in trouble via handball in games if certain players are not allowed to kick. Teams would also cotton on quickly.

Millicent played Kalangadoo last Friday. As expected had a easy win. Was told that new recruits Rehn and Bryant were very good. Also told that Agnew who had been trying to get back to Mt Burr lined up for the Saints.

The incident involving the coach leaving training was more due to the quality of how a certain drill was run, and to some players not following instructions. And more than certain players assigned to kicking the ball, it was more on the side of the coach pointing out around 3 or 4 players within the group he'd rather kick the ball to the forwards, i.e if 'he' is on for the handball, use him.

I also agree with the 2nd and 3rd tier players stepping up, and in my opinion they have made huge progress in terms of fitness, and most players skills are up the scratch at this stage.

Pretty ordinary if the coach left training because a drill wasnt being done properly or players werent listening to instructions. It would be his job to make them listen, no?
