None are blessed with pace either.
Hynes at least plays with a little bit of burst and he does seem to have fans in clubland. But if we want that bigger body HF who may become a midfielder, wouldn't we either hope Bo Allen slips or take Hamish Davis?

If we're after a lighter bodied wing who covers ground, Will Hayes available late?

No chance Allan slides and I prefer him at HB until he is ready to go in the middle. I prefer Davis or even Clarke up forward over Hynes.
I like Hayes late aswell as a player I'm hoping to take as Carlton in a couple picks.

What does Dattoli offer as a forward pocket that we weren’t getting from Charlie Clarke?
He looked pretty similar to Weightman to my eye? Good aerially and on the lead, with a few tricks on the ground without being an out and out crumber?

Doesn't strike me as what we need, hopefully we have better available at our first pick.

Personally I don’t see him as being anywhere near as clever or quick-footed as Weightman.

Don’t think he applies much pressure either, which makes him effectively useless as a small forward in our system. If we’re drafting forwards, we need them with the view of replacing McNeil/Vandermeer, or for them to be damaging in bursts through the middle.

So either a quick pressure small/medium (Hannaford) or someone like Hotton/Davis.

I cannot see what Dattoli does for our side tbh

I agree generally speaking, but if we took him I think we would be see more as midfielder or maybe a half forward that's used at stoppages rather then a genuine small forward. He's quite good in close which isn't mentioned here. He's nuggety and strong in the contest, makes good decisions and has clean hands. He had 35 touches, 7 clearances late in the season which showed what he can do in the midfield.
I've sort of been on the fence with him as I haven't seen him play this role enough, but I would back in our recruiters as they would see him play school footy and such. Probably still leaning against as I'm not sure he and Sanders are the best fit in the midfield.

With pick 58 Fremantle selects
JOSH DOLAN

Position:
Small forward/midfielder

Size: 177cm

Clubs: Sandringham Dragons/Beaumaris

AFL player comparison: Dylan Moore

A high half-forward who could thrive in the modern AFL landscape. Dolan was a star for the Dragons this year, kicking 8.4 and averaging 19.8 disposals, 8.6 score involvements and 5.0 marks per game. He’s a strong runner and damaging by foot.

A throw at the stumps as one of best of the rest selections

This is fair. My concern is if we’re drafting him as a midfielder, he just seems like a straight downgrade on Sanders or even West. If we see him as a forward, he tends to play more like an old school lead and mark forward who relies on his size somewhat, but lacks pace and height to play that role at senior level. Almost like a far less powerful Jake Waterman.

To compare to recent drafts, Ben Sokol has gone entirely undrafted playing almost like an undersized KPF in the WAFL to a lot of success. Despite the obvious talent, he has never got his chance because clearly clubs can’t see a clear path to an AFL role.

i think I’ve spent more time watching Datolli than most other players in this draft, only because I am still trying to figure out why we’re being linked with him and what it is that I’m missing.

There’s better suited midfielder prospects, and better suited forward prospects imo
