Re: Western Region Football League team

More likely speaking about Aaron James i would assume?
Who are the big name recruites there this year, and how are they going anyway?

Re: Western Region Football League team

i was talking about aaron james td madigan was a star for them for many years, wouldnt knock him.

it just seems when they have big recruits (and i know there have been alot of smaller named recruits that have fared well over the past few seasons) mostly forwards they end up biting them on the a r s e

Re: Western Region Football League team

Jamie would still be playin if it wasn't for his knees and probably old age:) Great service to the club. Benefit to any any club playin or off field!
Fenton, Vimpany, Stevens, Fletcher, Kelly all who have held there spot, Broadbent startin to show form that got him the captaincy, Kelm has helped out Ali in the ruck and has been valuable but the stand out would be Mick Turner, best recruit for a few years even though he's 4 foot nothing:thumbsu:

Fenton has also been a good pick up. He has kicked 31 for the year. He will make a good team with Butina and Williams. Pitty Dane didn't leave earlier.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Who are Kelly and Fletcher? Agree with the other pick ups, Turner is a gun, Vimpaney can play, and Fenton is a massive unit who can kick goals. Not sold on Stevo but have been told hes been playing well. Broadbent is a gun, can now see how he got captain, leads well on the field.
You guys would be much better having Tazzie in the forward line, hes a monster bloke and can play the game.
But also feel you have guys in the 2s who should have been getting a game earlier. Dubba Hall has dominated ur seconds for years now, and has only recently been getting a game. Been playing good footy in the 1s which shows that he should have been there earlier. Dont reckon there would be a more Albion bloke then him or Davo.

Re: Western Region Football League team

colts vs hoppers this week should be huge winner goin a game clear in second spot presuming spotty get over the undermanned parkside ?? who are the players from both sides that are not your usual suspects to look out for ??

Yes agree with turner, classy player there. I reckon he made the midfield difference against yarra on the weekend. Has a massive engine and just gets to the right spots all day. My clear best on ground for the day. Fenton was also good, good set of hands and kicks the crucial goals. Thought Broadbent was very quiet though, watched him clean up the week before against Parkside but was ordinary this week.

Just looked at the the goal kicking and fenton has kicked 33 for the year so he is doing his job
Crackers has got 34 for the year and some old red head bloke has got 45 but he gets plenty of chances so he should have kicked more but he is washed up...............
The league website not up to date but if you go to results the click on detailed results round by rd you can work it out

Re: Western Region Football League team

Big game for the Kangas this week.

We are coming off our worst performance of the year and we need a win.

A win this week will keep us in touch of the top four (in terms of points, in fact it will put us back into third position) however a loss will bring us back into a battle for 4th, 5th and 6th with St Albans and Albion.

Acerman getting off at the tribunal last night helps.

At St Albans where they grow an extra leg. A true 8 point game.

Re: Western Region Football League team

looks like the a grade finals will be at werribee this year

hopefully, whitten oval is a sh1t place to play finals football, its too big and there is no atmosphere. yarraville is ideal i believe, werribee will be good too.

You will nd a big win travvy if we happen to get beat 30% is alot to make up and even 8% that hoppers have over guys will be alot to make up against the saints at home, especially after they towled you up in rd 1 and you guys are coming off back to back losses.
Hopefully you guys don't fall into a whole, the kangas need mentha to stick around for the season.

On another not it's our captains 200th game this week, well done to BRETT JACOBS, he also has played in 4 A grade premierships matched only by les taylor at our club and not sure if many past players can match that so well done bj a champion of the wrfl..............GO COUGAR

just my opinion mate. played finals there and at yarra, its more the atmosphere im talking about when i say its too big. especially when the ball is on the outer side of whiiten oval, u can hardly see the play and some supporters lose intrest in the game, also doesnt help when 50%of ppl there are down having a punt in the tote. at yarra the whole oval is full with supporters and there is alot more buzz generated. ok clown

i have to agree with ya mate played finals at both grounds and Yarra is 100% better the crowd is closer and the atmosphere is great i hope we dont have to play our finals at whitten oval in divy2.

My opion is you should play on the best ground avaible who cares about the atmosphere and the crowd they dont get a medal at the end of the game they hav'nt battle there guts out for 8 mounths on a tuesday and thursday in freezing conditions. Then again colbol that might be your downfall you worry about the crowd even when your getting smash by ten goals

I'm almost 100% certain that NO finals will be played on Whitten Oval this yeat. Willy seems most likely.

it wont be willy i can assure you of that...........cricket club their has lots of pull and wont let that happen...........

imagine getting a gale and rain down there it would be tough.......imagine the great rock going for goal with a 40 knot wind in his face 30 out and it sails back over his head....thats not footy...:thumbsu:

yarraville been to plenty of grannies there..... home of the wrfl isnt it.......

i think the crowd worry bout me mate. i dont really say much to the crowd just respond to there antics its all just fun.

in realation to playing on the best ground i think whitten oval the past couple of years has been ordinary and yarra wwould of been a much better surface to play on.
and local footy does have a lot to do with the crowd and supporters, alot of our supporters do battle there guts out doing other things for the club away from playing, there is more to footy clubs than just the players

Not for much longer. WRFL will be moving their HQ very soon. Within the next 12-18 months one would imagine.

Re: Western Region Football League team

whitten has the best facilities and the ground was fine, no uneven bounce or anything like that and if available would be the best venue to play finals

interesting colbol your opinions about whitten correct me if i'm wrong but you guys have only played there once or twice and haven't had a victory at that ground

if the whitten is unavailable(that seems to be the word) then yarraville or werribee would be fine, willy to windy would make the standard too scrappy when this is when the league want the clubs to play there best footy for the supporters so they'll come and watch, imagine a strong gale blowing to one end how many people would pay to come watch a game like that

i have always enjoyed playing at yarraville the only negative is the change rooms, you expect a bit better than that in finals so maybe werribee would be the best option this year, at the end of the day the best side will win hopefully it is the mighty colts again

Personally I agree with Colbol aswell. Although the ground and conditions are most important, the atmosphere plays a huge part in all finals, especially the Grand Final. Willys ground does get windy but it will be just as windy on the big open spaces of the Whitten oval. Werribee and Yarra are similar grounds and would also be great venues. These ground conditions are just as good as the Whitten oval anyway (imo). The room conditions are 2nd to none when comparing those at the Whitten oval with other grounds but you spend 20 minutes warming up before the game and 10 minutes at half time as opposed to spending 100 minutes on the ground. I would have thought the ground surface was most important in a Grand Final. If last years G.F was played at Yarra, it would have been an unbelievable atmosphere given how it ended. I agree that if the Whitten oval is that far in front of the others in its ground condition, then fair enough play it there. If not, why wouldnt you play it at Yarra, Willy or Werribee for the atmosphere? Id prefer that as a player and supporter.

Port Melbourne would be a great venue...close to public transport, parking not a problem.

the crowd are the supporters, you should care about them cos without them you'd be stuffed.
