Re: Western Region Football League team

it wont be willy i can assure you of that...........cricket club their has lots of pull and wont let that happen...........
.......

The cricket club would have no say in the use of Williamstown as a finals venue for football. It would still be considered in the winter season, it would need to have the approval of the Williamstown Football Club and the Council i would have thought.

Agree though with what has been said, big thumbs down to play finals at willy, too windy.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Williamstown's too windy, Whittens Oval's too big and Yarravilles change rooms r way below par when your talking finals.
Also the glass is half-empty

No doubt Werribee's ground has many pro's but as you have said above, when wet,the centre is a bog and the remainder of the ground holds moisture on its surface for quite a while. Hard to say how it will be with the current "dry spell" we are experiancing. As for Yarraville's ground, there is no doubting it is the best venue for finals ( apart from the poxy change rooms) but the local council will not allow it because of the limited parking spaces in and around the area. That leaves the Whitten oval and as the cougar has stated the surface although not the best to look at is near on perfect under foot. The size of the ground lends itself to good footy being played on it and as far as atmosphere goes, after winning the last two premierships on it, it is like a second home to the colts.

Re: Western Region Football League team

It has been confirmed that Bartercard Oval will be used for Senior Div 1 Finals this year. Whitten Oval can't be used due to redevelopment, Council won't allow senior finals to be played at Yarraville, maybe Div 2 will get on there, definetly juniors will be played at Yarraville. Burbank will also be used for finals, probably Div 2 along with Altona.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Werribee is in pretty good nick at the moment, but i agree the centre wicket area can sometimes become a mess. From a sunshine point of view, more then happy to leave Whitten Oval, not the best memories there haha. The size of the ground just showed how much our skills needed to improve to go any further. In saying that Werribee isnt that much smaller. Prob a better atmosphere with supporters able to sit all around the ground.

werribee has the same surface as the whitten oval.......

Re: Western Region Football League team

ALTONA... worst ground ever for Finals Footy. I'm not in love with Whitten or Werribee but they are miles ahead of Altona. Worst atmosphere of any ground I have ever played on

Incorrect.....that would have been a Council decision. CV have absolutely nothing to do with the management of the Willy Cricket Ground.

You were right on one thing though, it is windy!!

Re: Western Region Football League team

everyone seems to agree that williamstown is not where the finals should be played, whitten oval has been ruled out so werribee and yarraville it is which is more than fine if the crowds are up the atmosphere will be good and beazer you wont have to do as much running on the smaller ground

tips for this week

hoppers V COLTS

st albans V SUNSHINE

SPOTSWOOD V parkside

ALBION V altona

glenorden V YARRAVILLE/SEDDON

Re: Western Region Football League team

Beazer,

Back in the seniors this week congratulations.

Any truth to the rumour you need the match payments to buy Mangan a new bed after an incident a couple of weeks ago at his place when you were heavily intoxicated...(again)

We all need to remember this is local football and should be kept in the local community for local people to come and watch / support. Werribee is not around the corner for the majority of people and this may impeed crowds. A venue like yarra or whitten is local for the league and supports people getting there and getting home quickly. A lot of people can have a beer and walk home or get friends, wifes to pick them up but if you asked your misses to drop you off and pick you up at werribee you may get told otherwise....
Keep it local I say..

I guess Im lucky we had a couple of injuries from last week or I dare say I would be playing at 12.00 again.

What is this site? Bring up as much dirt as we can on Beazer? So what, I was p#ssed and I thought his bed was the toilet. Im sure we have all done it at some stage in our lives. Luckily he has a spare bed and he is a good bloke.

For **** sake, can somebody give me a chop out and lag in a team mate for anything they do away from footy. I need some help.

yeah werribee is a fair way to travel from a supporters veiw it would be good if clubs did arrange buses any suggestions acr as to where they could get buses from, this could be cheap advertising.

Re: Western Region Football League team

The WRFL should steer away from the Whitten Oval as the ground is too big for Western Region Football. Our competition is played on the smaller type grounds throughout the season and then take the finals to the biggest ground in the area isn't right. This would be alright in country league as all there grounds are massive but not ours.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Troy Kelm in the top 3 players for albion most weeks now, alot of interest and incentives from other clubs being offered.A player to watch out for in the future!

maybe that was the problem last week when u had ur slumber party mate, u didnt mistake the bed for a toilet again did u?

havent heard many stories from boys at sunshine this year usually they are pretty filthy, maybe a culture change down there after the wells man left?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Yeah we have been pretty quiet this year actually. Which is suprising, no doubt Wellsy leaving has a lot to do with it haha, he was a maniac. Think it has also lead to Macca calming down, usually hes the yuckest bloke around but has been well behaved this year. Did have a pretty handy Sunday session before the break that got a bit messy, but nothing on previous years. Beazer you cop a rough trot on this thing, its a fair joke when people dont just talk footy.

Arent you at work again? Employee of the year you are. Dont even start about last week. The junkie didnt even want to bang you, thats how well you are travelling at the minute.

Surely Frosty or Macca has done something worth letting us know about?
