Happens at most clubs where some of the young guys (and their friends, parents etc) think it is their right to play seniors. If you are good enough you will play. Just might have to wait a little longer at a club like Spotswood.
I was at the GF and the two young guys for Spotty were their worst performed players on the day, so youth is not always the answer.
Good post and fair (bolded) comment. It's fair to say that many of the young blokes are not prepared to seek another club, be it through loyalty or other things. So they remain at a club like Spotty and have to work a lot harder to prove themselves due to the recent success of the seniors. This can be frustrating and not made easier by onlookers perhaps saying a little too much without knowing exactly what considerations are taken in to account at the selection table.
I think some need to look at Williams from Port. He was Hoppers Crossing through and through. The boys from Port offered him an opportunity and he took it. He's playing regular senior footy in a quality team. This is not to say that other young players can't cut their teeth at a less successful club. The dilemma is, stay at the club and not get a regular senior game or go elsewhere and play senior footy.
PS. i don't agree that the young blokes were Spotty's worst performers on the day.
