On this week’s LOCAL FOOTY SHOW shown on C31 Friday Night at 7.30pm for one hour and again on Saturday Morning starting at 9am for the full hour and a half show.

This week’s match for highlights are from the SFL Mordialloc vs ladder leader St Kilda City

We have all travelled on varying modes of transport to get to the footy. George Paras and a group of footy tragics make their 10th anniversary pilgrimage on Puffing Billy to cheer on Emerald in their clash with Kinglake.

Kinglake 10 weeks on.
Half a season has passed since that first, memorable, opening game at Kinglake that evoked an extraordinary outpouring of emotion and community spirit. But how is the football club coping in the midst of winter ? How are its players, officials and supporters dealing with a football season unlike any other ? We speak to the people involved and find out.

Last weeks Golden Days of Football segment 1932 Carrum Vs Rosebud at Dromana received a lot of feedback. We take another closer look so as to point out some of the finer detail on this ancient celluloid.

Local Footy Passion.
Check out how passionate some local footy club match reports can be.

Former Fremantle coach and Melbourne football manager Chris Connolly speaks after watching his son play for East Ringwood.

Scoresby coach Kristian Bardsley comments on last weeks win over East Ringwood and sums up the Magpies chances this week against Noble Park.

John Lindsay is our Player of the Day winner of a personalized Azumah pair of footy boots.

Ooops, the script was supposed to read "Turmoil sees Spotty lose it's second in a row." So much for the script. Leave that rubbish to the Home and Away and Neighbors. I said earlier that I had reservations about Hopper's being the challenger. Rock was as diplomatic as ever and said that they were impressive. Well, they were impressive for their 10 goal quarter and apart from that, they were just 'good'. The two goal margin flattered them. Luke Morsello was quite good along with Thomas (no surprise) and Mitchell slotting a few. McGhie and O'Keefe were best for Spotty IMO. Not sold on Hoppers as a real contender. Nothing personal, just footy. Anyone care to add words of wisdom?

Words of wisdom.....rock shouldn't drink.....
Spotty won a close encounter at home, hoppers are still a threat.
Colts won comfortably last week doesn't mean we have it in the bag, surely??
Seriously in my opinion colts spotty albion hoppers are all the same / even, it will depend on injuries and form that will determine results, and obviously experience.
Spotty and Colts, teams to beat after last two years , especially spotty....

How good is brad dick??? GO PIES

watched hoppers against sunshine and considering sunshine were without their best 4 or 5, excluding Douglas, hoppers victory was ordinary. Great first quarter with their onballers on top, Miles and Beaser their best and Taylor taking charge across the backline, won the game then. after that very ordinary with Sunshine outscoring them for the rest of the game.

Very small team all over the ground, no marking power, some agression but did not impress at all. Beat an ordinary team but if they were any good after kicking 9 in the first quarter they would have blown Sunshine away but stopped after 1/4 time

Don't put them anywhere near Colts or Spotty

LOL, interesting...

You could say that had we not given away a slly 50m penalty in the last quarter and there was also a few more minutes left in the game then we could have snatched it!

Spotty were the better team on the day no doubt, in saying that of our say 7-8 top liners on 2 performed! on the other hand Spottys cream dominated! Theodore,Kelly,O'keefe and Molan all killed us and thats why they are such a good team, there best rise to the occasion! As one of the Spotty boys said to me after the game they were just happy there wasnt another 5 minutes in the match because for the last 10 mins the game was played in our 50..

Congrats to Spotty, very very well drilled team and they will be hard to beat come September but as Rock said there is really nothing between the top 4!

Very smart (or dirty, depending on which way you look at it) tactic used by Libba in yesterdays game.

I was struggling to work out how West were managing to get a loose man when the ball was in transition from our forward line to theirs.

I was told after the game that what he was doing was sending a player on to the field as the ball was coming out of their backline and then calling a player off. The player that was going on was involved in the play and on for anywhere from 10-40 seconds before someone came off.

Wonder if they he will get away with this tactic next season on division 2:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thanks mate. The players are making me look good.

Just my opinion but I would say that it would be highly unlikely that Libba will be at West next season. Looks like some tough times ahead for the club

I'm not having a crack at you here but the 50 was given away, silly or not and there weren't anymore minutes left in the game.
IMO if a side has the ball in it's 50 for 10 minutes then the scoreboard should be ticking over quite nicely. Locking the ball in is one thing, having the polish to finish the job is another. Sorry Tige, after watching them play like millionaires for a quarter and then witnessing a fair drop off, I left the ground being none the wiser as to whether Hoppers are the real deal or just teasing. IMO, there is more between the top four than many think. There's a few areas where Spotty and Colts are streets ahead of the other two sides.
I'm watching footy this year as a fan of local football and want more contenders to rise to the occasion. I hope my views don't come across as being biased.

a little birdie told me there may be no games this week with the umpires going on strike anyone else heard that

I think you might be jumping the gun a little Gangst3r as the weekends games have just finished. However, a timeline was set a few weeks ago to get everything sorted so IF its not you can bet that threat of a strike will appear again.

BTW, I didn't think there was a lot between Spotty and Hoppers on the weekend apart from a little polish. Hoppers looked the goods at the half after a slow start but Spotty just grinded away and got the job done. Some poor bouncing from the men in white/ orange meant that the game finsihed in almost darkness. :)

have to agree with ya gangster....heard that if not a full strike will be a div2 strike as so the div1 will not be affected...i was not happy when i heard this (and it on good authority from WRFL). this person also told me that they are stuck between a rock and a hard placebecause with the strike threat last time they had the pay disputes to use as a clean up and problem solver without going into decisions on the major issue....

he said this time they have no decision to give the umpires as they feel they can not make a decision on what they want because 'The decision is not theirs'....it comes from above them...

if all goes the way i expect it too div2 may be having a week off.

and rock i am surprised u not ringing wade twomey already, my brother spoke to him last week and he has decided to come home to play next year..... let the bidding start hahahaha good win on the weekend by the way.

Wade was at the club saturday nite for the club function...100 shots of beer in a 100 mins he was 1 of four winners ....lol can drink and play.
He has already told me when he does return to melbourne he will only play at PORT COLTS and we will do everything we can to make sure that happens. His brother will more than likely be colts next captain so would be great to see them play together....It will bring a tear to the old man's eye....
Although i don't think he will be back next year.

Why would they strike on only division 2 evo?? Don't see the point of that from the umpires point of view. And how is it not the league's decision?? Do they not control appointments of staff?? pay issues?? Running of the league?? Can't see how its out of their hands.

I hear Kaino only got to mid 70's Rock, is this true and then let out an all mighty spew. For a young and slender man can put away beer like many of the greats.

Heard a whisper, some dramas ahead for Spotty. Life members involved at the club are at logger heads with new U18's coach and he looks to be sacked in the near future. Many good young players have already left and many more given their marching orders. Not sure of the coach's name does anyone know him?

i think the scoreboard didnt show the real story, yes hopppers were good but i thought spotty should have won by 6-7 goals they lost the plot in the last 10 mins, i think hoppers supporters, players would agree they were easily outplayed, doug thomas was great, cant understand how he could of played 2s at all.

this week should be a cracker, spotswood to win by 5 goals, will Kelly B.O.G

Umpires Association Members meeting tonight to discuss strike action - if agreed only junior games from U/16's down will be umpired....a claytons strike ?
The dinasours running the Umpires Association need to have a good hard think about what they are on about............and what affect they will have on the League if they do strike
Their one demand places the League in a potential legal nightmare( employment law) the guys contract runs out September .....get over this year and be a part of process that appoints a new person come post season

I was taking the micky mate, The man in question bagged many for leaving our club and as soon as he got the chance did a runner himself. That's fine but don't throw stones when the shoe is on the other foot. Very disappointing from a fella with a huge mouth that can't back it up.
