The WRFL is pleased to confirm that following the WRFL Committee of Management meeting on 8 July 2009, the WRFL Umpires Association has agreed to return to umpiring WRFL games in Season 2009.
Accordingly, all games will proceed this week as fixtured by the WRFL.
The parties have re-committed to the Umpiring Forum process which will deal with all umpiring issues for the remainder of the Season, and without interruption to the WRFL Competition.
The WRFL is examining the possibility of rescheduling the Senior and Reserve games that were not played on 4 July 2009, but will be guided by Council and the relevant parties regarding the availability of grounds.
The WRFL now looks forward to being able to provide access to Football for the Western Region of Melbourne for the remainder of the Home & Away Season and the 2009 Finals Series.

their was a club 2 years back threatening defamation charges after comments made on a forum, luckily for the person behind the alias he was never found (think he is still in hiding);)

Well then, best I hang up the keyboard and quit the Conspiracy Theories before I get into some real strife!

Enough about umpires now..... Footy is back!!

Should be a cracker of a game Albion v Hoppers. If Hoppers loses this is their chance for 3rd spot gone?

I can't see how you would figure this GB50, Albion still to play Hoppers, Sunshine, Spotty and Colts in the run home. In saying that I think Hoppers will win tomorrow by 10 points in a wet and windy day down by the silo's.

Just had a good look at the draw..... fairly easy run home for Hoppers. Still too far out to start working out who will finish where but if Hoppers lose they will need to make up 2 games to pinch 3rd (with Sunshine also still in the mix).

On the other hand if they win it could get them over the line for 3rd

Yeah you are correct GB50 massive game, win and we are in a very handy posistion - lose and we will be playing catch up. Also what will come into play will be if the game from last week will need to be caught up or not. Sunshine might have to play Spoty to grab a chance at top 3, I don't think it will come down to that though.

TRAVY43 you should of listen to SEN116 laste nite.....i was interviewed over the same issue, surely i could be more inciteful than Batty over this issue...lol just kidding, i'm starting to sound like CAIN M..

rock 07, i was just wondering why when you kicked on the full today in the first quarter (10 minutes in and your 1st touch), you went over and you and the field umpire were shaking hands....

you were having a bit of banter with him earlier but why suck up to an umpire?....there's no way you could be being nice in case they're your grand final umpire this year....surely not....

no24, crap umpire anyway, he won't be getting the job.

What a day of footy down at Albion...Hoppers Crossing doing what no side has been able to do in two seasons - beat Albion at Albion. With gale force winds down near the silos, the Cats peppered the big sticks in the last five minutes, but big marks across half back by Matthew Ryan and then David Clonan who had spent much of the game forward were instrumental in hanging onto to a winning margin.

The final quarter had it all, we even had a 'false start' to the finish of the game when the umpires mistook a spectators squeel for the final siren!! After 10 seconds of celebration from the Warriors, the game resumed but much to their relief the real siren sounded about thirty seconds later with the one point advantage still their way.

The Warriors continued the tradition that some clubs have set by belting out their song in the middle of their opponents home turf, not sure I really like it but it seems to be a common trend in the WRFL. I reckon belting the song out loudly in the 'visitors rooms' so it can be heard through the wall is satisfactory enough.

Have to say those Albion supporters are feral. And I think the game today demonstrated why "club umpires" would not have worked last weekend.

So todays results close out the top 5, but third spot is interesting. Three teams on the same number of wins, split by just 11%.

Sorry Rock 07, but just one more question, who's number 23 for you blokes, is he supposed to be one of your good players?

Played ok early but then got towelled up by big Groga after half time, a 37 year old bloke who's played 1 game for West and 2 superfools games this year and is just filling in because he loves the Roosters.

23 loves to clap his hands and tell every-one they're good but if you're relying on him to carry you to the premiership you're going to be left a couple of goals short again.

Hopefully for you blokes he's just filling in or then again big Groga is a gun.....go Roosters....

You're spot on Footyman, club umpires in any 1st division game wouldn't work, especially one like the game you had today....

But we all have feral supporters, Albion great at it, West, very good and Heights are well known for it but at the end of the day if you want to sing you song in the middle i think that's great as long as both sides are in and having a beer after the game....that's what local footy's all about....

was speaking to a few guys at the game today. when was the last team to come up from div 2 and win 4-5 games?
i think after today's perforamance Heights would start to earn a little respect in div 1. i dont think anyone preseason would have predicted that we'd win 4 games, especially without any big name recruits.

ROOSTER i never pot blokes and i'm not sure why you are but i will just say we had 9 starting 18 players out today and won by 124 pts in shocking conditions, so don't worry about us clean up your own back yard buddy....

Rock your side is very skillfull and fit, my one concern with your side is that it is missing that hard edge. Come finals time your ruckman will not be as dominate, palming the ball down your throat at every contest. Lets only consider the first half becuase thats the only time we were competitive. When the ball was there to be won in the first half your side often seemed second to the ball, and rarely physical, with bumping and tackling? you have stated alot of players were out, Am i off the mark here? What were your thoughts on the first half??
The Second half you lot were totally dominate, your class was evident, it was men playing against boys!

Rooster no need for highlighting one player unless giving them praise!

You can have your opinion, we have won 11 in a row and coming up against the bottom side on a shocking day, it's hard for players to be up every game. In saying that we started well and west didn't score in the first quarter, the second quarter we were ordinary but got back on our game in the second half.
No doubt we were not as hard as we usually but we are a very physical side and can match it with any body, just ask the other top sides.
As i said early also 9 of our best 22 were missing.
I'm confident both our ruckmen will be fine finals time.
Thanks for your concern.

I think the Colst boys would have used yesterdays game as more of a training run preparing for there big clash this week.... no disrespect intended when I say that but it's sometimes difficult to get as motivated and 'up' for games like these!

Thats exactly what it would have been.Sure Spotty,Hoppers,Albion and the like will be rapt with with Beatles appraisal of the Colts so called lack of hardness and the ramifications it will have come finals time.:rolleyes::rolleyes: Red rag to a bull if you ask me.Love your work Beatle.:thumbsu:

Oh no think someone is on too us. Roosters would 23(Sam Hoath) get a game at your club?????

you got beat by 20 goals and you manage to bag someone from the opposition now that is funny

Roosters reckons Hoath was towelled up by Big Groga.Roosters obviously had the Grog glasses on !!! Saying Colts shouldnt rely on him if they are wanting to win the flag is quite ironic because Hoath could be the very reason why they win it. If Hoppers or Spotty had him Colts probably wouldnt be able to win it.Hoath is a key.

Nth Sunshine 2004 won 5 or 6(beat Yarraville twice and Sunshine) and pushed Hoppers, St Albans and only really got smashed once by Port Colts after gaining promotion. Great win to heights and there proving that sucess can be achived with out spending a small fortune. I wish them all the best in the future and hope they can one day play A grade finals football.
