well finals is upon us! colts got up over a stacked sunshine? were they stacked or not? altona smashing spotty? wat happen they're would of been pretty windy down at altona! port showing their class over sunshine! but will it be harder for port playing at the big altona ground? big help for the other sides.
hoppers to beat spotty this week by 2 goals in great form at the minute n wont stop now!
and sunshine to beat albion by bout the same margin!
well it has to be an advantage for altona ressies playing on their home ground does it not? I'm tipping Colts though....in a close one.

Who's going to win the Priest????

From the Colts we would have Danny Jacobs, Brett Jacobs and Steven McNaulty(spelling wrong) would be top 10.

Has to make wonder why everyone is tipping Hoppers.....two big wins against teams with nothing at all to play for isn't the ideal preparation for a final against a team who has been rock solid (with two wins against Hoppers) all year. Hoppers will need to stop Spotty's key forwards and run to be a chance. The Woodsmen by 20 points for me. Albion/Sunshine will be either team under 15!

Completely agree THETIME, We have beaten Heights and West not ideal leading into finals and also have not beaten Spotty in 3 years, so we will not be getting ahead of ourselfs that's for sure. Spotty are clear fav's and will take our best footy to get over the line.

It's an awesome time of the year, all the training we have done and we are finally here. Bring on Finals footy.

Hoppers display on the weekend was brilliant, they are well coached side, the most physical side we have played all year, the tackling is without doubt the best in the compitition! Murphy was ok, but doesn't win his own ball ever, so playing a tight tag if worried will shut him out of the game.
The only thing holding hoppers back might be in there heads, becuase they have more than enough ability to beat spotty and colts. Hopefully they can make use of the list they have and really achieve something this year. Hoppers my tip for the Flag!

Well hoppers are emerging as a goal kicking machine....15 individual goal kickers today along with 63 shots on goal. Murphy has come back from injury as the most dangerous fwd in the comp, he is surely going to worry the opposition coaches.

Should be a great game this week spotty/hoppers, spotty are the a great running side with alot of belief and with loads of experience. Hoppers are flying with a full list, also with a bit of experience and have some real hard nuts around the stoppages.
Hopefully they belt each other, a result either way would not surprise but it will be a close one.

In the other game albion/sunshine, think the cats may prevail, only on sunshine getting a couple of late injuries to some key players.

Looking forward to watching some good finals footy!!

I was at the game Rock, who was injured for Sunshine? Didn't see anyone of note go down.

King and Douglas finished on the pine with what looked like injuries. The clubs leading goal kicker and best midfielder who has a priest medal to his name so if them 2 don't come up the Kangas will miss them.

Masive losses if they weren't to play, would quickly put Albion into favourtism that is for sure.

Tocka may have thought the game was out of reach and thought to rest his better players no point injuring further for next week.

What was said ROCK, the old 5 second delay doesn't exisit on 89.9 like it does on the mmm's.

FAR CANAL....In shock of how many goals hoppers kicked, very impressive evem though the opposition was not great.
I said before the top 3 teams are even and any result this week would not surprise, just think for hoppers playing heights and west is not ideal going into a tough finals series.

No he wasn't resting them, the players were injured very late and mentioned it after the siren, i wasn't aware of douglas but king and goring were the ones i was aware of. I'm sure they will do everything possible to come up this week.

Totally agree. Not an ideal preparation for finals doesnt matter if you win by 100 goals. We will know pretty early that its a finals game thats for sure. All that us winning by so much means that we can smash ordinary sides. Means nothing at all against better sides during finals.

Agree it wasn't ideal, but we didn't do the draw, in saying this we could have just gone out there and won by 10 goals and got little out of the game.

I was waiting for some of your words of wisdom Beazer.
This you are right. How you feeling coming up against your old team mates??? Most of all do feel you want to prove something to Kelly or is all just forgotten about??

Should be a great contest. Spotty probably have a more conventional forward line and have consitent targets.(not sure how hoppers will play mitchell) both sides have good defense and hard to spilt.
Midfields are also very even were spotty have the class edge but hoppers may have more depth. In the ruck department both jensen and mcghie will get their share of hitouts but around the ground mcghie will get on top.
Hoppers have hit some form at the right time spotty are just going along nicely, a cracker of a game....either side under 15 points!!

It's not ideal but doesn't mean you're not prepared. We played the bottom 2 sides in the last 2 rounds last year and won our 1st final so it doesn't mean you're underdone or anything, just would have been nice to have a good solid hit out

Having said that, who would be the the team to play last round before finals. Not knowing final ladder positions until late in the year makes it hard to say but for us playing Albion and Sunshine in the last 2 rounds is probably the perfect preparation as they finished 4th & 5th and us 1st. We had 2 games against finals teams who we most likely wont have to play.

Can it work against you playing a team who you will play again the next week or two. Albion and Spotty played last round last year with the Cats getting up then Spotty won comfortably a week later - just a thought???

Didn't say hoppers didn't handle it well, i have said very impressive.
We have always struggled for motivation and our best form in these games. Full Credit to you.
Just that teams have a history of getting ahead of themselves after such easy victories and then not playing as well against better opposition.

I remember we beat parkside by over 200 and then lost the following game. Not saying it will happen, just not the way you would like to prepare, in saying that spotty's hasn't been much better.

Danny did you run a bit of soreness out of those legs of yours this evening mate??

We all have opinions about playing easier sides leading into finals and I guess you draw on your own experiences and personally it hasnt ben ideal for teams Ive been in. We are a much different side now from the start of the year but it proved after 3 masive wins in practice matches that it doesnt give you a win the next week. Not that its any excuse. We have an injury free list to chose from and everybody is playing well so if we are good enough, we will win.

On playing Spotty, what do I have to prove to Kelly???? That Im good enough to play at this level?? That he should have picked me last year?? I have nothing to prove to him. We all have our opinions as to whether or not I should have played in the GF last year, and whether Im BOG this week or I dont get a kick wont change that, nor get me a flag for last year so as far as Im concerned its just another finals game. It will always be in my mind but my energies are with us winning it, not whether I need to prove a point to somebody. I have more reason to play well against them this week after the way I played against them last time.

1 thing is for sure, it should be a cracker of a game.

Watching Spotswood the younger brigade has stepped up since last year.

Especially R.Noye a real milestone breaker on and off-field.

Should be a cracking final series.

Cant wait!

Keep up the good work

Cheers

yeh your on the mark there C.V he has been brilliant
i think they where trying to keep it quiet though.
very young side i think only 9 from last years premiership side played on the weekend (bit like hawthorn)

Well, well, well. It does not surprise me but worth a comment. I hear (although second hand) that the sunshine boys were told about 2 weeks ago to stay off big footy. So with some time on my hands, had a look who had posted in the last 2 weeks. Sure there were some sunshine comments, but names i couldn't recognise. Which all but confirmed Albion up to their old tricks again. Isn't that right Blake (or Inka). Know who your mates are before you burn them. By the way Rock, Altona not really a happy hunting groung for big Julier. Have you thought of starting the big fella in the fwd pocket as an extra target?

I think you will find he wont have to play at Altona CLUB7 the second week of finals are at Chirnside park, don't think any ground is a problem for Julier one of the best this comp has seen.

Agree it will be very even over the ground, battle of the midfields will be the best to watch no doubt, weather permiting it will be a highly skilled game and very quick especially with the wide open spaces of Altona just hope the wind stays away.

Will it be compulsory viewing on Colt's behalf or a week off for some?. Will you be training on Saturday or a bit of a scratchy?.
