The one that ALW stole.

The lead-in to what I knew what would come about next for Floyd.....and 'Us and Them' was always coming.

Been throwing around some oldies in recent days....

Recall as a kid, I wouldn't go to sleep until I heard this track...and sometimes it took hours but I stayed true :)

Only got into pink floyd in my early 20's. One day, at my job at a paving company, I had to cut diagonally 500x500x40 pavers into triangles, about 150ish of them; the saw wasn't big enough to do it all in one go, and so it was going to be a prick of a job. It was expected to take me the whole day. I did what I'd usually do; went and got my headphones, got the earmuffs and the protective glasses, filled my cup with boiling hot green tea, and put on whatever music I had on my phone. This day, it happened to be The Wall.

It was a nice day in Melbourne, not too hot or cold; the wet saw kept the thing from heating me up too much, and I just drifted away into the music. Only really when I stopped - after listening through the album a few times, I can't remember how many - when I realised that hey, the pavers were all done and it was only really two o'clock. Is genuinely one of my favourite memories ever; I'll never forget what it was like, complete comfort in what I was doing, where I was, a sense of place and time I'd only ever felt sparingly.

Badfinger were a great band, but unfortunately ended up in tragedy for band members due to a scum feeding manager. Very sad story.....

Frank Ifield was the very first Australian singer to have 3 consecutive number one hits in the UK. This is the first one.
What a voice, this is one of the very first songs I remember hearing on the radio.
