What British Soccer Heads think of AFL

Don't worry about Aussie Rules, is that the way Brits see Australians?

I didn't find it that funny. - Put it down to cultural differences. Some very nice handballing though. :p

It seems Aussies are becoming worse at excepting a bit of banter each day. Where once we had the reputation of the larikan who could take a bit as well we fast becoming a bunch of pretentious and soft as butter w***ers.

Lighten up people, it is just the poms having a bit of fun.

About as accurate as an Aussie take on the EPL - no worse than the crap on our breakfast television - i.e 4 minutes of fill and 1.5 minor laughs.

Good lord.

Pray that Channel 9 don't see that - they will have their own 30 min sketch comedy show within days if that leaks out. Awful. But fair testament to the quality of Australian mainstream comedy atm.

Moscow now :thumbsu:

Don't take it personally, if you've ever seen that show they make fun of everything, even their own football. The only thing about it is that the stereotypical Aussie is done to death across the ocean & it really isn't funny anymore. The accent is always done badly, it's to add to the humor, but I've heard worse on television (LOST).

So? Who cares, we make fun of the Yanks, the Yanks make fun of the Canadians, the Brits make fun of the French, everyone makes fun of someone else. Just a bit of meaningless banter.

not sure i understand why the punching on featured so prominently - how many stadium riots do we hear about come the business end of the soccer seasons over there?

Very few, if any. Been a long time since a stadium riot broke out in England.

Anyway as every second poster has said, lighten up. It's just a gag. Not a very good one, but whatever.

I thought its very very funny.

Looks to be inspired by barry Halls thump on Staker (if the jumpers indicate anything), and a bit of 70's history.

dont cringe about it, embrace it.

So who writes their material ..Rove ?? that was about as funny as a fart in an elevator...the only thing lamer than their attempted humor was their attempt at an Aussie accent ..no matter how hard they tried they still sounded like pommy gits .

Umm, yeah, that's what my point is. But, if you're a comedian with only one routine that you repeat every single night it's going to be less & less funny each time. That's what I'm saying about the accent, it gets done every time & each time I hear it it becomes less & less funny purely due to repitition. I'm not taking offence by it at all.

 Did I say it was funny? And yeah, that was my point about the accent, they were really bad at it, they still sounded British.

I rekon you can thank the likes of Barry Hall for these types of skit's..... no doubt that is what the whole punch joke is about ???

Reckon more to do with the exhibition matches held at the oval that over the years have more often then not turned into punch on's, this along with 30-40 drunken expat aussie streakers each time they have one of these games. Having lived there (and been guilty of being a drunken expat) most brits you mention Aussie rules to mention the punch ons at the oval.

You only get Toffs & Yuppies these days in England at "The People's Game" because you practically have to mortgage the family home to be able to afford a Seasons Ticket. Mind you; I wouldn't want to follow a League in which only 4 Teams could possibly win it. :(

But seriously; the Video is great. :thumbsu: The Poms & Yanks have got as tagged as Bogan Thugs haven't they? :D

hahahha thought it was pretty funny. The football AM show is shown on Sat morngings before the weekends fixtures and it is generally a quality watch. No need for us to take it so personal who cares what they think of our game.
