Obviously In my opinion we are in desperate need of a key back man and another solid defender, I feel our forward line is coming along and hopefully Fev stays and Waite looks like he can continue to grow.

Midfield I think we're fine there, so I just really feel we need one - 2 real solid backman and obviously when Stevens comes back the mid-field will be stronger

I just want to know are there any backman that you think could fit into carlton well and are out of contrast this year?

Hope so... cheers

Need a ruckman and some experience in the form of a key defender. Weak draft - trade away a few of our top picks for a quality defender

The only way Carlton will be a long term success again is to draft well, trading away early picks and poor player recruitment is why we are in this position today, l do not see how you can possibly suggest trading away early draft picks, the only way you would even consider that would be for a gun e.g Pavlich no other exceptions to this.

Just to veer off the field for a minute, some administrative stability would be nice too.

I didn't realize until I saw Sheahan's interview last night (well I did know, but it didn't occur to me :p) that Pagan worked under four presidents at Carlton - Elliott, Collins, Smorgan and of course Pratt.

That is four different administrations, each with different philosophies and practices to varying degrees. Doesn't make a coach's (nor the players' for that matter) job any easier I would have thought.

Obviously if we are going to trade away our top picks itd have to be for a very good player. The reason i think we should do it is because we have an abundance of early draft picks. Murph, Gibbs, Walker, Kennedy, Russel, Bower, Grigg, Hampson, Edwards.. What we need is for these boys to learn how to win. They need leadership to help them develop. How can a bloke like Murph be developed to his full potential if he is carrying the weight of the whole team on his shoulders. We are asking too much of our young kids. They need some experienced players to help guide them through their development. Carlton will never get long term success if our kids development is hindered and if they develop a losing culture. We have plenty of young kids coming through, use the early picks (remembering that if we get the PP we cant trade it anyways so we'll still get a top pick anyways) in this weak draft to get an already accomplished player. Ideally someone aged in their late 20s. I don't know how old he is, but think about how useful a player like Ben Rutten would be in developing our young defenders - especially for the likes of guys like O'Hailpin who are still relatively new to the game. As well as that it would also free up players like Thornton whose being played on opponents too big for him, and T-Bird could show us what he's trully capable of. Our players need a gun experienced player who can show them the way and help us win in those tough, close games

I trully think our off-field problems aren't an issue anymore. I honestly think Pratt has done wonders and that we will have a bit of stability now

2-3 years experience added onto everyone on the list, and senior players playing to their potential.
The AFL to admit they dudded us on the priority picks and give us back the one from 2003 and from last year, giving us picks 1,2,3 and 5 this season.
Kreuzer, Cotchin, Ebert and Morton.

I agree another key ruckmen the list is fine, if we can play like a team, they are just slow developers, and will be in the mix, most of our draft choices are built around athletes, and not football brains, much like players such as murph, and gibbs, and griggs, they know how to get the ball. The rest will need time to understand the game, we wouldn't need to do much, to our list. Our senior list doesn't have the aura, about them to once our young leaders mature. which will be almost half the list, to cover B CHB C CHF F.
