View attachment 55936 Thought this would be the best thread to show off this to you blokes... Martin Prado city dressing flag that was hung around Sydney during the week of the MLB games... Didn't really comprehend how big it would be until I got it haha
Haha where are you going to put that!!

Im living in an A frame house with a few mates so my living room has about a 5 metre gap to the top of the A, hopefully it will fit in there somehow! If not I'll just put it across the ceiling in my bedroom above my bed haha
That's awesome! Either way, it woould be amazing.

I've got a mate who covered his ceiling in different countries flags. Each corner of the flags were pinned but there was a sag in the middle. It looked superb.

Thought the Round 5 Player Named Guernsey's were great, so had to get one or two!

From the first game of the round. Brent Moloney's Match Worn Guernsey

Then the club i was really keen for. Sharrod Wellingham's Match Worn Guernsey

You really have to wander WTF they were thinking with the sidepanels (Or their lack of thinking). Surely it isn't hard to get some gold mesh material for the panel on the golden side for the jumper.

The back just looks terrible.

Nice one, Patterz123. I picked up Will Schofield's PI guernsey.

The new material feels nice, but that's about the only good thing I can say about the jumper.

Something that's been grinding my gear for ages...

It was bound to happen. Footy jumpers are becoming to look like shit. It's all about the template instead of the design.

I used to rate puma as number one. This year they have just killed everything they had going for them. I can deal with the new collar, but the guernsey cut, side panels and shoulder panels make these jumpers look terrible.

The only teams that I like ISC manufacturing are Port Adelaide and Fremantle. It looks neat and nice. The template just suits.

But ISC looks terrible on the other teams IMO. The cut of the guernseys really piss me off, I'm not sure why it annoys me so much, but it really does. The tightness in football jumpers ranges from loose to nice fit, to tight, to pretty tight, to insanely tight and then again to ISC tight. Looks ridiculous in conjunction with the way the cuffs sit on the players shoulders. The tightness distorts in most cases the central element of the football jumper, for example opera house, becomes a fat distorted red yoke.

I liked Adidas. Guernseys were of a nice fit, template was a bit messed, but they tried to make it work. Apart from the black colour issue, Reebok were also superb. Introduced the bib collar as we know it today, extremely comfortable to wear. I like what Nike are trying to do, but they need to take a step back. I don't mind the shoulder panels and the side panels on the clash, but surely they could find a navy material that matches the rest of the guernsey better. The triangle on the collar isn't very attractive and I hope they go back the the neck bar collar of the 90's.

I'm aware of the dislike for blades, but I've put up with it. Collar is comfortable, side panels never seemed to bother me, guernseys are cut very well. It's just how much they clutter the guernsey which I hate. New Balance are improving. I was sceptical who they started manufacturing for Melbourne, but I now quite like what they've created, it's unique.

KooGa/BLK have been the most consistent in my opinion. Nice material, great cut, not overly tight, and it produces player issues that really are unique from the standard manufacturer. The amount of effort that KooGa/BLK go to at Brisbane must not be ignored. Sure paddle pop. But they produce some pretty cool things for Brisbane, with the bears heritage kit being one of the top notch designs I've seen recreated for Brisbane in the last couple of years. Simply superb.

However, the newcomers to the league have ticked all of the boxes for me. I didn't know much about either until they started out. 2XU and Star Athletic. 10/10. They have nailed every aspect. Off field, on field apparel is brilliant. Whilst Star Athletic is a pretty tight fit, it still ranks as number 1 for me. The cut of the guernsey along with the collar and material is awesome, with the player issue guernseys being something that I've desired for the last couple of years. Also, 2XU have done an amazing job at Gold Coast since taking over. The material is again amazing. Sure, the design isn't the greatest, but 2XU ensure that they cater for the players as best as they can (side panel cloth patch), whilst still maintaining the design that the club values so much.

tl;dr

My rankings:
1. 2XU/Star Athletic
2. KooGa
3. New Balance
4. Blades
5. Nike
6. ISC
7. Puma

Where would you rate Adidas? I'd have them a clear first at the moment.

Incredible collection!

Just to note, I think the 1999 Crawford one is actually from 2000 because of the new AFL logo and different Samsung logo, which is weird because they never played in it after the 1999 Ansett cup. But I heard that Hawks Nest made another batch in 2000 because the design was so popular in demand

I only have/had four

2004 Home Geelong
2003 Away Geelong
2008 150 Year Guensey - tags attached - will never wear this one
2009 Training Guernsey (girlfriend has commandeered this one)

Had a woolly that I got in 1994, but Mum threw it out 15 years ago quoting, 'it's too small for you now'...
Needless to say, I went ballistic.

Sorry bout the sideways photo's these are just from the ad, I'll be putting some better ones up in the next few days.
Anyways.........
1996 Peter Matera Centenary year pre season player issue, signed by himself, Woosh, Jacko, Bret Heady and Cuz, cuz has signed it with the 35 after his sig, as was his number for the first few years. Got it from a guy selling it through gumtree, he had it in storage sinse he got it in 96, so the sigs are very bold, the whole thing looks brand new! Matera was All Australian in 96, and it nows goes nicely with my matera 94 away P.I, another year in which he was AA & brownlow medal runner up.

Hey guys,

Just received my round 3 one off crows guernsey, the new collar is much tighter and the material feels almost plasticly which could explain why some players prefer 2013 collar/material. I don't have pictures of my entire collection but if anyone wants a pic ill upload.

Ok so some more pics of the centenary.........turns out it isn't Matera's guernsey, but 1 number less, Andrew Donnelly #29, just as highly decorated as Matera, well if you take away the premierships, and the All Australians, and the club champion award, and the runner up brownlow medallist, and the number of games played, and goals kicked......but none the less a true legend of our team:D

TBH I was a little dissapointed once I took it out of the hideous frame. I was expecting to see the number 30 and to see the 29 did piss me off a little. Thinking about it though I don't think the seller was trying to hide anything or pull the wool over my eyes.

There was a little plaque on the frame that said WCE AFL Centenary guernsey signed by eagles stars John Worsfold, Glen Jakovich, Peter Matera, Brett Heady and Ben Cousins. It also had the Swan Brewery logo on it and the Mecure Hotels logo on the other side. Now I didn't talk to the seller too much about it (we met in a carpark near the Freo train station, looking like we were doing a dodgy coke deal, in the absolute pissing rain so I didn't really hang around to chat!!) So I guess that was my own fault, but looking at it in the frame, the stitching of the 29 & the 30 look very similar, and he could have just assumed that the only number out of the 5 who signed it that it looked like was 30. It doesn't look like 1, 24, 27, or 35 which is what the other 4's numbers were in 96.

So a little dissapointing not to have the 96 Matera to match my 94 Matera, but still happy to get a centenary P.I.

Good get on a PI but yeah if it was sold to you under the presumption that it was a number 30, I think you'd be within your rights to get a refund, or partial refund. Well, that would be the case if you'd bought it from a memorabilia store, some bloke in a carpark might be a bit harder. I guess with Gumtree purchases it's always caveat emptor.

Yeah it's a little hard to tell whether the seller was trying to be shifty or he actually believed it to be Matera's guernsey. When it was in the frame, I could see how you would think it was number 30, and if you were told it was then I guess it starts to look even more like it! He may have just assumed it was Matera's, looked at the names that signed it, figured it didn't look like a 1, 24, 27 or 35, so therefore must be 30:drunk: It could have been an honest mistake, him being told it by the previous owner, which must have been either swan brewery or mecure hotels, or him just trying to jack up the price.

For what I paid for it, I would have been happy to pay that for any number, as long as it was the real deal, which it was so a little dissapointing to get my hopes up and find out it wasn't Pete's, but still happy to get a fairly rare Eagles guernsey to add to my collection...... Now if you would just sell me your polyester, sublimated centenary then it would almost be complete:D

I agree with you on that one fxd. The guy should have been honest and said he assumes it was Peter Matera 30. With the mercure and swan logos on the jumper I would assume the Guernsey came to him framed, he may have been told by the auctioneer on the day it was a matera PI.
I have this happen to me before, I think the bloke knew the Jumper was of a fringe player, but most people assume that the frame will never be opened so it is fair game to talk a jumper up.

The sleeves tucked up were also a surprise, did you pick that up Mike before opening the frame?
