My second team is hating Carlton. Getting to the stage where I watch Carlton games and go to their matches at times just for the sole reason of the chance to see them lose. Last night was a bummer but the Mon night St K v Carl games in 2012 and 13 were gold. Especially 2012 as the Blues thought they were top 4 material up to that stage.

I hate the no's 70, 79 and 81. The biggest paradox in my life is I want to see Coll beat Carlton in a GF while I want Carlton to suffer at the bottom of the ladder forever.

Yeah the Carlton games tend to be to one i am most interested after the collingwood games. I get in to them passionately going for the team that Carlton is playing, no matter who they are.

My family is half Collingwood half Richmond. Growing up all six of us had memberships and supporter kits for both sides. I still watch all Richmond games, but l still love it when the pies put them to the sword.

I have 16 second favourite clubs - whichever club is playing Carlton on any given round.

I've always had a soft spot for Port since JMac's passing to be honest (R.I.P).

Of course, the turn-around they've had since bringing Keith Thomas on board has been extraordinary and it's nice to see them doing so well and winning games (except against us of course).

Let them get to the GF against us and DESTROY them GC, smash them, grind them into the turf and inflict such thorough reaming so as to leave mental scarring in their supporter base for years.

Some may think that over the top but most likely not any that were at the G in '70. 79 and '81.

The younger ones here are getting tired of their stupid arrogance but I've been tired of their overbearing bullshit for decades and wish only the worst of all possible outcomes for the club from minute to minute.

No second team, I like individual players from certain clubs but I couldn't give a shit about the results of any non-Collingwood games unless they impact our ladder position, in which case I go for the team who won't go above us by winning.

Its been a great eight years since this comment. Two wooden spoons and no finals campaigns. Please may it continue.

My old man doesn't follow footy at all, his mother in law was a mad Blues fan, like most Italians so Dad brainwashed all us kids to follow the Pies to piss off the mother in law off, which worked for years. When she died in 2005, I was 19. As her body was being lowered in to the ground, Dad leans in and says "You don't have to follow Collingwood anymore".
I always had a soft spot for the Blues purely for my grandmother.
Soft spot for the Dees too, the missus follows them as her grandfather trained with them before he went off to the second world war, he returned years later but was married with a child in tow, thankfully. The wife followed them no matter what and has always been a proud Demon's fan, even when they got trounced week after week. She did have the balls to wear a Melbourne Jumper to a Pies open training session too. She got Howe to sign it for a laugh.

I had a mate whose old man was mad Blues. Wanted the Carlton theme song played as his casket was lowered. Happened in the days of cassette recorders and it took longer than expected to get Vince into the ground. Carlton song finished and the next club song came up . Last 2 feet into the grave were to "Good Old Collingwood Forever". So funny, I swear I heard a fist pounding on the inside of the coffin.

i like st. kilda after the last premiership. Obviously carlton is out, richmond out, north out....geelong out....melbourne out for that 60s premiership....brisbane obviously out...west coast obviously out... fremantle I dont mind. Port is annoying. GWS nup. Gold coast is pretty vanilla...essendon was ok in 90. Freo probably.

As one of Victoria’s finest historians VP, how you feeling about this artefact ?

It hasn't aged well. I now hate Richmond and Geelong.

I also find its easy to add clubs to the hate list - I have a great capacity for it - so Carlton and Essendon have company.:p
