I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

If we play like we did vs St Kilda for the rest of the year, we'll win at least one.

What drive me insane is the multiple 100+ point losses to bottom 4 teams, then a performance like that against a team that should play finals. Lack of consistency in effort is infuriating.
Yeah I doubt effort will stop us getting destroyed next week.

I hope we win enough games to not claim the spoon. Give the kids a taste of winning and take a positive mindset into next season.
Wce are not built to come second last or last we are here to win flags. This idea of wouldn't it be good if we finished second last? No it's a flag/GF or bust none of this loser mentality of feeling content with finishibf second last.

Boys either way will be walking around with heads on ground

Bit of a weird comment but would Reid and Hewitt get along? Seem like they may both want to be top dog.
Collingwood is template for having lots of campaigners degoey and ginnie.

Hewitt is still pissed in my mind because no toher teammate helped him when he got attacked.

So Reid and Hewitt will get along just fine with them gang attacking other player

I'm not usually one to call people on their lack of grammar, but there is a correlation with low IQ.

We won a flag in 2006 because we drafted C.Judd with pick 3.....

Normally I’d agree with you re the spoon but this year it’s different especially since if we don’t finish last, North will. Consider the following-

1) Unlike recent drafts there is a clear favourite for the No. 1 pick said by some to be a generational player. That may or may not be true but he’s showing enough that he’ll be a very good player if we take him. He also very much fills a need
2) Because of Reid’s talent and standing in the draft we will have the option of splitting the pick should a godfather offer materialise. It remains to be seen if such an offer will come or if it will be sufficient to accept but we will be presented with a choice to go quantity over quality by bringing in 3 very good players instead of 1 very very good player. It’s a good option to have
3) North are a chance to lose McKay to FA and receive a 1st round compensation pick in the process. If they finish last that would mean pick 1 and 2 for them relegating us to pick 3
4) Finishing last also gives us the first pick on night two of the draft which we’ve seen can be a valuable and sought after pick that clubs will chase
5) Again, if North win the spoon they have pick 19 on night two but that also means Fremantle would hold pick 20 which is the 2nd round pick they received for Logue and is tied to Norths finishing position. It means they would hold a pick in front of us with which they could target a WA talent- someone like Tholstrup comes to mind at that pick
6) Same thing as 5 happens with Fremantle holding a 3rd round pick tied to North which would sit before us if we don’t finish last
7) By holding pick 1 we have a useful negotiating tool with Gold Coast for their 1st round pick by agreeing not to bid on Walter with pick 1 - there’s 386 point’s difference when matching pick 1 over pick 2 on an academy bid

Our draft position is significantly better by finishing last - ideally North win a couple of games which would in turn enable us to win a couple without climbing off the bottom

Dunno all the boys got around Hewett after his first goal yesterday and he was over the moon

Is Hewett actually a campaigner or is he just confident?

I ask that knowing there are rumours about his behaviour in school. Smoke/fire and all that but also nothing that has been publicly verified so I'm not going to use that to judge his character without proof.

I mean, if he is a campaigner I don't particularly care, every team has them, but since getting to the club he has presented as a decent enough kid. His kind of onfield confidence is exactly what Yeo has and what drives him to get the best out of himself.

Help me out here…which bit did you find embarrassing? Saying I want my footy team to win as many games as possible? Or the bit about not wanting to have a loser mentality?
Both.

Wanting to win every game is dumb, given we have a draft. The draft makes it impossible to always being up, which means if you want to win every game then you are being entitled. A Karen, shall we say.

And the loser mentality? We didn't have a top 10 draft pick for a decade. That was crucial in sinking us to the bottom. But you call this a "loser mentality".

You seem to forget we won a flag and are now paying for it. Essendon, Carlton, Fremantle, St Kilda, and Adelaide haven't won a flag for 20 years. We've won one recently but you think we're above losing?

You know how there's a perception among some that West Coast supporters are elitist? That's you. An entitled cry baby who think their team is too good to lose regularly.

A well-reasoned post, thanks mate.

I should clarify my position. I’m not saying I’d rather finish second last than last. I’m just saying I want us to win as many games as possible, and if in doing that we climb off the bottom of the ladder I’ll be stoked.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt the way I did watching the lads stick it to the Saints on the weekend. I just want to feel that way more, soon.

Really?

I would have thought level of education would have a far greater correlation. You don’t need a high IQ to be a good parrot.

I totally get it and would rather the team be winning, but now we're in this situation it would behoove us to win only one more game than North for the rest of the year.

If North would climb off their behinds and win a couple, everyone would be happy.

Both.

Wow. That is one of the more impressive melts I’ve read on BF, and that’s saying something. Congratulations! 👌

Setting aside the assumptions you’ve made about me from my 2 short posts in this thread today, if this difficult period in our club’s history is a direct result of our 2018 flag win I’ll take it. Gleefully.

Look, I think it might be best if I just put you on ignore and move on. Have a fantastic day, fellow Eagles supporter. 😘

Don’t you start getting all obscure-wordy on me zerg. Who even uses the word behoove? Apart from you of course. I had to look it up.

Yeah I get it. Harley looks awesome, so pick 1 would be great. But if we win enough games to miss out on pick 1 I’ll be a happy elitist entitled cry baby.

Can see a 3 way trade between WCE, Norf and GC where WCE and Norf both agree to not bid on Walter. This assumes Norf get pick 3 for McKay. GC can easily get another F2 between all of their picks this year as well as player trades. GC pays a premium of a future second to get WCE and Norf to agree not to bid on Walter, but gains 260 points this year to match bids.

WCE in: 2, 8, 27 and GC F1
WCE out: 1, 36, 38

NORF in: 1, GC F2
NORF out: 2, 3

GC in: 3, 36, 38
GC out: 8, 27, GC F1, GC F2

I think it was happy elitist entitled cry baby Karen if we're being accurate.

I think in the unlikely event we made it off the bottom I'd be a little disappointed at the lost opportunity of a truly amazing trade/draft period in these parts but still happy for the team.

And I'll get over that disappointment quite quickly.
