How can Bo Allen and Ginbey reek havoc off half back if they are at best average kicks?

I don't understand this new age backline we are trying to build. Aggressive tough and hard half backs with suspect kicking

Run and handball. Don't bother with kicking (or just kick to space and let the next wave run onto it).

And our new coach has Richmond pedigree you say?

WA don’t need an NRL team, we’re about to get it for a generation in blue and gold.

with the stand rule and players who can break tackles, it’s probably a lot safer than trying to pin point kicks out of defence, and less predictable than kicking long to Darling on the boundary

Nobody thinks he is a bust. Who said that?

He's just not a midfielder, which is what we were promised after Chesser also wasn't a mid, and it's what we desperately need.
He is a complete bust as a midfielder(the reason we drafted him was believing he could play midfield) not a complete bust because he goes good in the backline as long as he doesn’t kick to often.
Problem is we desperately need young A grade genuine mids and we have drafted one in the last 4 years of our rebuild 🤦‍♂️

Ginbey and Yeo stat comparison at the same age:

Pretty favourable in most aspects. Only real standout in Yeo's favour is that he was clearly more of a marking player which isn't surprising.

Neither had/has the midfield nous of a Shuey who could win out in there by being mentally a step ahead of his opponents. Yeo wasn't and still isn't IMO a smart player like that, needed to fully morph into his bulldozer self and gain AFL level consistency/awareness as a HBF to match his existing competitiveness and athletic traits. We know Ginbey will work his butt off just as much as Yeo has so the worries of him never transitioning to midfield are very premature I think.

Only misstep in Yeo's career is his injuries - was the singular wrecking ball in there and once he did transition to a central mid role he actually probably didn't rest on the HBF as much as many of us would have liked.

In drafting a 'second Ginbey' we should get the flexibility to expose them both a little more regularly to the midfield on rotation (building their nous earlier) whilst being able to preserve them a bit more late career (hopefully stay healthier than Yeo). We also have two absolute competitors who (if what we hear about Bo is true) will both push themselves and others at training which is an edge we've been sorely missing.

Still need that evasive, high-posession clever mid type and will need to address that soon. However think concerns about him being too similar to Ginbey shouldn't be concerns at all - happy with the acquisition.
lol you forgot to add that yeo has elite kicking while Ginbey is a terrible kick and yeo can explode out of packs and congestion with his power/speed, never seen Ginbey do it once

Welcome Bo.

I actually like the pick in isolation - i think objectively he is a very good pick 16 as i think he will be a long term player.

With that said, it is slightly hard to stomach because (i) we desperately need a high possession mid to pair with Reid, Hewett, Ginbey who are all low posession high impact, (ii) we had that high possession within our grasp before Clarke shat the bed, (iii) Allan is a pretty freaky combination of power/size/athleticsm but oddly enough, despite all of our issues, this type seems to be one that we are ok for.

I dont see the Dawsom comparision at all. Dawson is a laser 60m kick and that is what sets him apart. I see Allan more like Yeo in that he's a beast tackling and in congestion but his kicking can be abit wayward - partly because he's often so pressured and in there scrapping. It does look like he has the potential to be an amazing defensive mid foil for Reid and Hewett (and ideally Warner), ie, sit at the back of clearance set ups and negate the oppositions best mid whilst at the same time being able to win the ball when needed with his pace.

So all in all I quite like the pick where we got him (especially as we engineered pick 45 also) but its hard not to think what could have been.
Did you say Ginbey was a high impact player 😂😂😂 he has done nothing offensively to suggest that in his 2 years as an AFL player
