Opinion What unpopular AFL opinions do you have? - Part 2

Literally thought of this 1 minute ago but I think every time a club gets a wooden spoon they get a flag removed from their tally.

So say West Coast has two flags, but if they get a spoon then while those flags are not gone, they can no longer say "we have won two premierships" and are now only allowed to say they have won one premiership.

Also a club like St Kilda will need to win quite a few flags before they are allowed to say they even won one.

what does winning one season have to do with losing another? why should an accomplishment from say 1989 have anything to do with a bad season from 2011?

Not sure how unpopular this is but I would change the finals system. Still top 8 but I would give the top teams the ability to choose their opponent.

So the ladder in 2024

1. Sydney
2. Port Adelaide
3. Geelong
4. GWS
5. Brisbane
6. Bulldogs
7. Hawthorn
8. Carlton

So being 1st, Sydney get to pick from the other 7 teams, and Sydney decide that Hawthorn is the team they want to play

so Sydney vs Hawthorn

then it is Port's turn, and they have decided that for some reason they think they can best beat Brisbane

so Port Adelaide vs Brisbane

next is Geelong, and they decide they can beat Carlton

so Geelong vs Carlton

and so on.

so say the 4 winners end up being

Hawthorn
GWS
Geelong
Brisbane

being the highest ranked team to win in the first week of finals Geelong get to pick their opponent, and they pick Hawthorn

leaving GWS and Brisbane to fight it out in the other match.

I'm sure someone will come in with a logical reason why that's a bad idea but without any additional thought from myself I feel I could get behind that concept.
