What was this years "Grand Final Moment"

Can I also just mention that Ottens' effort at the end of that passage to barge Reid out of the way, grab and dish that footy to Hawkins was herculean for a 31 year old ruckman.

Well with the way Hawkins was pushing him out of the way all game it's hardly much of a feat. j/k

But I have to agree with the Christensen mark, 2 on 1, Pies pressing. To win that contest, and get the ball moving forward, hitting Bartel on the run, and the resulting passage of play. That really got the momentum firmly in Geelong's favour.

But I felt Bartel really kept Geelong in the game in the first half, and that amazing goal on half time. You knew it was going through. I think he single handedly kept Geelong believing they could win it. For most of the first half I felt that Collingwood had players standing up in Cloke & Krakouer whereas Geelong looked a little flat. But then Bartel chipped in with a few crucial plays, he managed to pull back the margin just before half time. If Collingwood had've gone into half time with a larger lead Geelong mightn't have had the belief. Bartel stood up when noone else seemed capable, that led to Hawkins 3rd quarter performance, and to everyone else coming to the party.

Christensen is a gun. Kept finding himself in the right spot and did everything perfect. Really impressed by his game (though I probably think he did more than what he actually did, as I'm likely to have attributed some Stokes disposals to him).

As for the defining moment, not sure there is really one that stands out. Maybe after Johnson kicked his fourth, spraying the water bottle in the air, taking a drink, then pointing at an unidentified Collingwood player and saying "f*** you c***". Made me laugh anyway.

made me laugh too (and cringe a bit) - dying to know who Johnson's spray was aimed at, I'm imagining it was Leigh Brown but I may be wrong ..

not the wittiest of sledges, but got his point across in no uncertain terms ;)

For me it was Bundy's mark with the 2 on 1. Was against the whole flow of the day. Will stick with me forever.

The moment I knew we had the game was Varcoe's goal. Just check out the amount of running Varcoe does as the pie players collapse around him.

This goal was when I knew it was over. All resistance was gone.

I tell you what, Geelong may have unearthed somebody in Christensen.

Nobody can explain to me how the 2009 premiers managed to win the 09 draft, Christensen, Menzel, Duncun and Vardy. Collectively the best collection of players any one team got from that draft.

(2007 - surely Bartel's first quarter goal after Selwoods insane dummy?)

GF wins usually have a few moments - the game-changer, the 'we've got it' and - sadly - often the sign of utter capitulation.

Game-changer: Bundy's mark

We've got it: Varcoe's end-to-end effort

Capitulation: Kudos to the Pies, there wasn't one (unless you count O'Briens scrubbed kick, which comes close). But the mock "Geeeeeeelong" chant was pretty sweet - especially since the fans only did it just the once as a way of making it clear who was going to win.

Christensen's mark definitely stood out being at the game. Watching the replay later that night, he had a much bigger impact outside of that play than I had realised. Duncan and Ottens too were better than their stats.

And while he didn't have the best of games before going off on Saturday, we wouldn't have been there without Pods this year IMO. Getting a ready made, above average key forward for free in the rookie draft was the real steal of the 09 draft.

Each time I have seen Geelong play this year, Varcoe's work rate is the highest on the geelong side. He just doesnt stop running and this clip is absolutely amazing and shows varcoe doing what he does best. Thanks for this clip YOTC, it gave me goosebumps!

And i think this moment was brilliant, from Christensen to Varcoe. Pure Bliss.

Yep, that passage of play should forever be immortalised in Lego-mation like Scarletts toe poke

There was a few for me.

Varcos first goal ... sent a real strong message
Bartel ... ever goal was difficult, important and executed perfect. He was a monster, marking, clearing, goaling.

Christensen and selwoods work in and under, both really really impressed.

Tom hawkins 3 or 4 amazing contested grabs in a row ... looked like a man playing juniors.

Stevie j's one week recovery to lead the goal kicking list.

Duncans running goal

Mooney coaching hawkins at half time.

So bloody dominate it wasn't funny. Really stood up and I thought he was the big reason why Geelong in the end ran over the top as all of Collingwood's efforst went to stopping this monster which allowed others to road free.

All this after Pods went down.. Awesome effort by the kid! :thumbsu:

Christensen's mark was the point where I knew it wasn't our day.

Previously Sidebottom had kicked one of the goals of the day, the ball should have gone to ground or over the boundary line on our half forward line but Christensen took a mark he had no right to take and the end result was a goal which gave Geelong the confidence they needed heading into the last break.

Something out of absolutely nothing.
