What will collingwood blame next year?

On closer inspection of the Draw you will notice that the Mighty Pies play the Eagles in Round 2 at Subiaco then the return match is either 2008 or if they happen to meet in the finals. Do you think the Collingwood Bosses are sitting at the Lexus centre this afternoon saying, 'Damn we only get the Eagles once, it is not fair, we get to play the Wooden spoon team twice, we get the 15th placed side twice, we get the 13th placed side twice. Why don't we play the Premiers twice?'
We play Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide twice and the 2nd meeting is the final 3 rounds of the season

As if AFL fixturing that most morons dont understand, each year you will be scheduled to play 4 top 8 and 3 bottom 8 sides or the other way around from the previous season. In 2006 we had 4 top 8, 3 bottom 8 so next year its the opposite

I still cant see what everyones complaints are. But if the Interstate sides want to see us travel more we will be happy to travel 6 times a year, but you have to give up all home finals for that to happen :) As for the Victorian clubs, whinge to your own board about why they keep requesting us each year, oh and the TD tenants have no right to whinge, dont blame us your club is so strapped for money they had to go to the Dump with the AFL throwing money at you

You're right. Im guilty. I have a serious problem with collingwood receiving a soft draw year in year out whilst other clubs are reamed up the backside. But that's ok. Please continue to lobby the AFL to not play any interstate games at all.

Stop crying and concentrate on bickering amonst yourselves and generally stuffing everything up that a club could stuff up.

The reason why there is a not a thread about Richmond blaming their 2007 year on something is because Richmond are irrelevant and have been for 20 years

oh and before I forget - stop crying

Who's crying? Do you deny you have ANOTHER soft draw?

Think hard - who won the WCE v Collingwood Telstra Dome clash in 2006?
Think Harder

2005 Premiers Sydney - Played Pies Once
2006 Premiers WCE - Will Play Pies Once
Would you like to play the reigning Premiers more than once a year or is that too much of a challenge for the Great CFC.

Also 2006 The Tigers beat the Pies and it didn't mean shyte.

The royal 'we' haven't forgotten anything about the finals. What are you insinuating - that Collingwood would have beaten WC had they made week 2, possibly going on to win the flag???? LOL

You can live in your dreamworld, including a 'kitchen sink' being thrown at your beloved pies. If the Dogs came to play on Elimination Final day and the Pies didn't, shouldn't you be asking why?

No, I seriously doubt the Pies could have beaten WCE's in week 2 of the finals....never even crossed my mind to be honest.

And the fact that Collingwood even made an elimination final a year after finishing 15th is a top effort...in any sporting context. So, no...I don't lie awake at night worrying too much about that one.

My point is, I suppose, that the Bulldogs seem to be immune to criticism regarding their finals thumping at a ground they'd already conquered a few weeks earlier, yet drongos like you still like to sink the boots into Collingwood about an elimination final they were lucky to even make it to!

Your grasping at straws now matey.....

Can't seem to remember too many Collingwood supporters having a cry about having to play Carlton and Essendon twice when they were winning premierships!!

P.S. We beat WCE's and Sydney both in 2006...What's ya point??

It was Collingwood that brokered the deal with the MCC and the AFL to rid the league of the must have one final at the MCG each week - it was always going to happen just that collingwood was smart enough to be involved and get something for it - Richmond too dumb

At the top of every Vic clubs fixture request (apart from essendon) is to play home games against Collingwood so they can get some money for their mis managed pauper tills

Third , we never agreed to make Telstra dome our home ground - good luck to those that had too because they were begging the AFL for money to keep them a float but we did'nt have to and we didnt

So sucked in - thats the price you pay if you are Richmond ie irrelevant , mis-managed and galactically stupid

Well, let's look to the draw mate. ;)

18 games in Melbourne- Well that's a bit more than anyone else!

15 games in MCG- Oh no! Only 15!

6 Friday Night Games- Compared to the Hawks one...right..

4 Interstate Games- The least of any club.

This draw is disgusting. It's got bias written all over it. No team deserves to have such an advantage over the others. This fixture has become a complete and utter joke.

I am sure that the so called Greatest AFL club going would want to take its great llist of talented footballers around the country and increase their membership base. But that would mean you would really need to improve on your 11-30 record when travelling interstate over the last 10 years. Only way the Pies can be a success is playing a heap of games in Melbourne and maybe winning the odd 1 interstate every year.

Just who is the ostrich with their head in the sand. Finished the year 5th and yet play only 3 of last years TOP 8 Twice. Yet the Premiers, Runners Up, The Dogs(who beat the Pies in the Finals), The Saints, (th PLaced Richmond, Melbourne, Fremantle, 15th Placed Essendon all play Top 8 teams twice. (1. I would much prefer playing Top 8 sides twice and miss the finals than have a soft draw again and get in and lose. )

(2. Also if the Pies were hit with the Same Draw as the Tigers you could guarantee their would be blood spilled at AFL House with 2 straight games at AAMI.) Travel Rounds 2, 6, 9 and 12 then have 10 games in Melbourne to end the year. Hell if the Pies don't make the finals they should give the AFL away.

1. Bullsh1t..... You always want to play finals, the easier the path, the better. Dreamer.

2. Ninthmond can rest easy that their 2 AAMI games are in a row. They wont have to come home for the week. They can stay, soak it all in, no need to travel there before the second game. Unlike Collingwood who had to travel there twice in three weeks, this year (2006). Stop sooking. Your own broke club can save a few bickies on travel.

another dream run. The AFL are $#%$#ed

They're nice guys :)

2007 will be the second year in a row we havent played in Perth in round 22 and they have also spared us travelling to Cairns and backing up in Perth 6 days later. Add to that we have TWO games at the 'G in 2007 instead of the customary 1, anyone would think our draw is a favourable one

Bloody interstate (or is that NON-Victorian?) clubs always have ALL the advantages ! ;)

Nice to see that we are not being dragged all round the country-side again (no Manuka or Aurora or Cairns or Darwin or whatever).

Only one game in a "country" ground - where is Carrara again and why are we playing the Roos there for their home game?

The Fireman said:
what's the bet that all food and bar outlets at the G will have their security beefed up next season, they will look like banks and have auto security shutters.
All vendors outside will have body guards.

And all females attending St.Kilda Football Club functions will be given capsicum spray......

Can't be the draw that's for sure. Very nice again for the pies. 18 games in melbourne with 15 at the G.

Ask your club to say NO to home games against Collingwood. If all Melbourne clubs request only a away game against Collingwood we will be forced to travel more. Simple really.

How about you travel more and we still get the home game against you occasionally? Sounds fair.

Essendon had the same amount of games at the MCG and travelled outside Victoria exactly the same amount of times (4) as Collingwood did in 2006.
Bombers finished 15th.
Pies finished 5th.
No logic there.
You see, it doesn't matter how easy or hard a match is perceived to be, you actually have to win it to be any good.
Is playing the Demons at the 'G going to be an easy game? What about Bulldogs at the 'G? Easy?
What about an improving Richmond, will that be a walk in the park?

Anyway, you foolish bunch of anti-Collingwood ostriches with your heads stuck in the sand. It's your own penny-less Melbourne-based clubs that lobby the AFL for home games against the Pies each year....so if you perceive them to have a soft draw its your own fault...SUFFER.

Well, that certainly explains your performance in the first week of the finals then. :D

Gosh it seems all you "other supporters" have more passion about collingwood than the real collingwood supporters, how about you just leave us alone, we dont care about your teams, how about you stop whigning and just play/watch your football team :thumbsu:

Gee, this from a supporter whose club b*tched like there was no tomorrow about the Lions' salary cap concessions. But that was a legitimate cause for complaint, right?
