Refused to see the second Avatar, thought the first was a bloated wank.

Had a few hours to kill in a shopping centre, Knew nothing about Twilight, saw it had vampires and from memory it was around the time when i was getting into True Blood, Walked out about 30ish mins in..... Twilight can get in the bin.

I can say I've not seen one minute of Twilight, except for TV ads.

Obviously I refuse to see any of the LOTR or HPs I have not seen.

I only saw the HP recently. I had refused to watch them out of spite, people used to carry on about them.

Then i surprised the darl with the HP stage show tickets so she made me binge them all to catch up. I didnt see the fuss, but that could be because i didn't grow up with them.
Stage show was pretty bloody clever though. (although, was 4 x 2 hour sittings on a sunday...) talk about Brownie points lol

I only saw 3 x HPs solely due to my bf at the time. Otherwise there's no way I would see them.

I’ll watch virtually anything and watch it through to the end. Otherwise one can hardly be much of an authority, its just impatient sampling or prejudice or boycotting some element of the production.

But yes I get the feeling. Were a few films growing up that I saw as a group and might’ve left if I’d happened to see them alone. Some films I might avoid because it seems a hagio puff piece of a figure I’m very skeptical of. And there are some series where you go ‘yeah nah, stopping after this season, or not worth completing this miniseries’

I’m very into cinema though, a lifelong passion of mine, I’m not really a turn-offer/switch-overer.

On those ‘leaving soon’ last day of the month situations with streaming you might have the time-sensitive choice of a few options but only time for one, and in that case you might sort of start one in preview mode and make a hard decision fifteen minutes in whether to swap out before too late, or commit.

Yes i don’t think I’ve seen any of those Disney legacy remakes of the past decade, and don’t really plan to. I did see that other Little Mermaid film that was on Netflix a few years ago (had MacLaine from memory), a bit crap but okay for a one time watch. I guess that’s an avoid for me. I’m probably not going to see that Diana Nyad film coming to Netflix soon, can’t really stand her. Also avoided Will Smith stuff for about a year after the slap, couldn’t stomach him for a while.

James Bond is another film I avoid at all costs. Just not interested- saw one circa late 90s, that was plenty.
I can see how one could get a poor first impression or have a stop-start experience trying to get into them. I personally love the series but it helps to get in the mood of one of those marathons or find one in particular that hits the mark with you and sets the personal Bond standard. But yeah, in a sense if you’ve seen one then you’ve got the jist lol, they don’t stray too far from the template. Not a series for everyone.

Oh, add any Fast & Furious movie. Get in the bin. Not even my man crush of the rock could get me in. I gave 5 (I think) about 30mins and checked out.
Seen Fast and Furious 1, thats enough.

Seen Mission Impossible 1 and 2, thats enough.

Don't have alot of time for franchises which sqeeze about a billion movies out.

Here's one which turned into a Movie I didn't see, to one I did (and loved)

* The Godfather

Caught the first 15 or so minutes on SBSWM. Thought wtsf is this crap and switched off. Then I saw The Offer. Then I became slightly obsessed with all things Godfather, then I saw the trilogy, then I changed my av.

Next up is a trip to Sicily to see where it was filmed.
I have argued that Godfather 2 is one of the greatest US films ever made.

3... meh.

To Leslie. I was curious after a bunch of Hollywood A-listers got Andrea Riseborough nominated for Best Actress at the 2022 Oscars. She can clearly act but I can only vouch for the first 40 minutes before I binned it. It's the story of an alcoholic loser with no redeeming qualities. I read the rest of the plot on Wikipedia and there's some redemption but I was already gone.

I've fast forwarded through more movies than I've binned part way through.

Stowaway. A Netflix sci fi drama with Toni Collette and Anna Kendrick. They should have called it Muriel and Pitch Perfect go to space. One hour in I was hitting the double triangle.

Red Sparrow. Jennifer Lawrence is a Russian ballet dancer who becomes a spy. Lawrence looks good but she can be one dimensional as an actor. A bunch of other decent actors phoned it in. At 2h 20m it's probably an hour and a half too long.

Better question would be, what Hollywood Blockbusters have you not seen. Mine include:

Top Gun (all)
Avatar (all)
Mission Impossible (all)
Titanic
Guardians Of The Galaxy (all)
Independence Day
Avengers (all)
Jurassic Park (all)
Fast and Furious (all sequels)
Harry Potter (all)
Iron Man (all)
Spider-Man (all)
Barbie

and I'm sure there are plenty of others.
