Leah WhannelWatched UPGRADE (2018)
Fantastic sci-fi movie. Best I've seen in a long time. Highly recommend. Not a single weakness in the movie.
10/10
Go watch it now.
Just watched HEREDITARY (2018)
Was recommended this movie, told scariest movie ever. Yeah nah. It's a very slow burning thriller more than a horror story. Kind of like THE WITCH in that it's not actually scary at all, and just slow and slow burning, a layer of sinister to it.
Enjoyed it, but it was slow and slow burning and not scary, just sinister.
I rate it 1/10I enjoyed it but I laughed in the places that were supposed to be scary. It was well made and brought up a couple of notches from the standard horror movie by the excellent acting performances of the whole cast.
Anyone seen Getting Square?
Spiteri at the court asking for bus money? Heh
Good Australian flick.
I liked it. Saw the necklace on granny at the funeral and picked it pretty early but was a slight change of the genre and it worked well i thought. Definitely worth a look if into thrillers / horrorJust watched HEREDITARY (2018)

I enjoyed it, yes. But I'd rate it 1/10 when al is said and done breaking it down into all aspects of a film and rewatchability value. You said you enjoyed it.
You rate films you enjoyed 1/10? Ok then.I enjoyed it, yes. But I'd rate it 1/10 when al is said and done breaking it down into all aspects of a film and rewatchability value.
Whether I enjoy or not is not part of my rating process. My ratings is all based on film making aspects and such. You rate films you enjoyed 1/10? Ok then.
Story 0Even on just film making credit it’s better than 1/10.
Enjoyability is subjective. Why you cant imo use it as part of rating. Instead focusing on objective things. If I could be bothered I’d look up what I rated mother! Cause that was horrendous, but even I’m struggling to understand how if it gets 0s and 1s across the board you could have “enjoyed it”

I also enjoy dental visits. Enjoy pain. So keep that in mind.Well everything you’re rating is subjective, it’s your take on it. I could understand going “it’s brilliantly made but I hated it so 3-4” or “it’s terribly made but I loved it so 3-4” but how can you enjoy it if you’re saying it’s a straight up 0
To be fair, I'm not sure I understand a lot of the things GG posts, so at least his rating scale is internally consistent!Sure... I can’t say I get how you’re ratings work but play on mate.
Super Troopers is objectively one of the greatest films ever madeTo be fair, I'm not sure I understand a lot of the things GG posts, so at least his rating scale is internally consistent!
For what it's worth, I rate based entirely on enjoyment. A 10/10 rating doesn't indicate that it's an objectively good film (e.g. Supertroopers got one from me) or even rewatchability (e.g. Schindler's List was brilliant, but I don't ever want to see it again).

Mother! - literally just watched this and am posting this in the throes of rage so might update in the am but this is the worst piece of self serving, arrogant, pretentious garbage parading as thoughtful cinema I have seen in a long time, maybe ever. Not even a wonderful turn from J-Laws worth sitting through this s**t for 0/10 and I cannot recommend highly enough to go see anything else at the cinema.
My rage has chilled this morning but I'm still standing with a 0/10 for Mother! and I cant recommend highly enough to not bother with it. In terms of positives, the first half is very well made, unnerving and uncomfortable with the way its filmed and the sound design. Unfortunately it completely and utterly loses the plot for the second half and buries itself under a thick layer of wank and horrible choices. Read a long winded pretentious rant from Darren where he talks about how the ideas came to him in a "fever dream" and that makes perfect sense of the second half. Don't get me wrong, the film doesn't make any sense, but how he came up with the garbage makes perfect sense.
Really needs its own thread.
