There's no derision, it just underperformed at the box office. Competent film that doesn't reach any particular great heights.
Loads of derision from critics before it even opened. With online reliance these days it would have held off a percentage. It was targeted.
Also box office isn’t everything. There’s some crap around the billion mark as well.

It's 71 per cent on RT and 62 per cent on Metacritic, which are generally positive. The derision beforehand came about because of debacles behind the scenes, including firing the directors and reshooting 70 per cent of the film. Definitely the drama may have contributed to it performing poorly at the box office but it wasn't targeted.

I just don’t think many people are interested in a Han origin story. Plus with the disappointment in The Last Jedi..

Fair sir. I retract targeted and appreciate the info.

Sicario 2 - Not as good as the 1st, to be honest this one was a bit boring even though there were more action. Still interested to see where the 3rd film goes (If there is one)

Han Solo - Doesn't quite reach Rogue One quality, but still enjoyable.

Still haven't been able to watch Kingsman 2 again, despite getting it soon as it was released. Have probably watched part one three times again since part two.

It's really not that bad but it's not memorable.

Which is a shame.

I said in the Predator thread, that Predator kinda gets overlooked as a movie and lumped in with generic 80s action flicks, but I think it's much better than that and have on par with Terminator 1 and Aliens as a classic of the sci-fi action genre.

Agreed. It ranks up there in my book.

I just don't think it lends itself to a franchise. The first movie was a product of its time. Predators was also fine but unmemorable.

I don't have it on par with Terminator or Aliens though. It's a fun action flick but doesn't have any depth or do anything innovative. It's a balls to the wall action film.

I dunno mate, I think the way it creates and maintains tension is brilliant, and it is a little subversive (here we go again - C3PO) in how it takes tough 80s action heroes and turns them in to the hunted, like the young girls from slasher flicks. It blends sci-fi, action, and horror as good as the other two, and the acting and writing is good enough to carry it throughout with memorable lines.

A Quiet Place.

I love these types of movies and I enjoyed this, but I hated the ridiculous amount of jump scares. I think I counted about 15 all up. If you want to make your movie atmospheric and scary, there are more ways of doing it than simply having a loud moment once every 5 minutes.

Really took me out of the movie because I had to turn the volume right down and distract myself so I would stop getting jump scared too much.

Murder on the Orient Express (2017) - I’ve never seen the 70s “original” but I’m assuming this tried to homage a lot of that. Perhaps it did but if so (or not) it doesn’t work. A ridiculously contrived plot, a pointless and frankly stupid twist all bundled up with a tonne of pantomime over the top performances just made this ridiculous. If it went more campy and had a 90 minute run time I would MAYBE understand what they were doing but this is terrible 3/10 for Daisy Ridley, some pretty cinematography and Kenneth’s tache’ stay well away.

Sounds like every Agatha Christie movie I've ever seen.

I watched the Dark Knight Rises last night and thought it was pretty rubbish. I don't normally like big action movies anyway, but I really enjoyed The Dark Knight, so thought that I'd at least enjoy parts of this one as well. Nope. Was surprised to see how high its score was on IMDB. I gave it 4/10 and even that felt generous.

It's not perfect but it's not a 4/10. What a shame you didn't enjoy it!

These write ups about The Predator are exactly what I thought it looks like on the previews. Too over the top and too many annoying people.

I'll still go see it but nothing compares to the original.

If you pay for movies you don't like they'll just make the same thing 2-3 years later.
