A post earlier got me wondering what theatre's people choose and why?

I was always a Hoyts customer growing up, more of location than anything else. Since I moved houses the last 3 years have swapped to reading. Cheap tickets ($10 normal, $20 gold) and food prices are pretty good (popcorn tastes better than hoyts)

Also do people always get drink and food? I never did in the past (too expensive and would normally get something before or after) but my missus always has to get something, even if we just ate - does my head in (but then I usually eat most of it hahah)

Reading is fantastic value- I have one near where I work, go there now and again.

I used to work at Hoyts Highpoint when I was a teenager and have great memories of working there- but **** Hoyts now, they are very expensive. Would not go out of my way to go over there or even one closer to me. I go to my local, Airport West or drive a little further to Sunshine. Sometimes will go to the city, go Crown or Kino. Each time I go to the movies it costs me no more than around $20 (RACV vouchers- $13 for the ticket, $7 for the popcorn and coke). Village also has a good VCM program, giving you cheaper tickets and now a points system. Pretty sure I have enough points for at least 2 free popcorn/coke combos.

As for the popcorn absolutely does my head in how bland really it is here. Over in the States they have way better popcorn, so buttery and yum.

I did have an astor membership and a membership to the sun in Yarraville. Awesome cheap tickets and the cinemas were amazing (especially the Sun) but the people were horribly obnoxious, nearly got into a fist fight with a dude who was drunk and just talked at full volume through a whole movie.

Please, if you're back in Melbourne can we go to the movies. Something always happens when you go to the movies. :D

Chaplin - I recall not being that impressed with Chaplin when I saw it at the movies some 20 years ago, but thoroughly enjoyed it second time around. & while he is always good to watch in this run of never ending comic book movies, it would be good to see Downey Jnr do something with a little more substance again before he hangs up his hat.

The real Chaplin went alright as well;)

The Man In The Iron Mask

Caught this on TV a few weeks ago. Maybe the first time I've seen it since it was new. I enjoyed it. I like the portrayal of the older Three Musketeers and the bleakness of the characters thrown in is for good measure for what is a pretty fantastical story. They are all played well, and John Malkovich in a role as a protagonist is not often seen. Leo is great being a real arseh*le as King Louis, one of cinema's completely irredeemable characters up there with Biff from Back to the Future and Billy Zane from Titanic, then also strong playing the imprisoned twin, innocent and unaware of his true identity. There's fighting, laughs, and bits of drama in a balanced film.

It's a good action adventure period piece with a bit of star power behind it and some cheese on top.

8/10

Somewhat unrelated, but from where I sit writing this I can see the very Island he was imprisoned on, and just last week I took the dog over there for a walk. There is a long Avenue de Eucalyptus there that stretches through the middle of the Island. For a brief minute I thought I was in Oz.

Agree with that. Loved the football aspect of it.
The draft part of Draft Day was great! But yeah his mum tried her hardest to ruin the film, God she was annoying. She could even look at him disapprovingly from there:

Hahaha valid.

Now that I think of it, did that hit cinemas? I only happened to randomly stumble across it, no one else I know had even heard of it before me.

The Darkness - Stock standard horror movie 5/10
