I miss them.

They do but not many. Murrumbeena road has one. Sandringham had one from memory a few years ago when I was binge watching Fringe series and Dexter and may still exist.

Sunday I recorded the end of Sunset Boulevard on one of the digital channels and then it had Breakfast at Tiffany's straight after it and so had the PVR recording them to watch during the week as apparently famous old movies.
Sunset Boulevard ends up being weird movie. Bette Davis character was kind of creepy but still interesting for reason it was creepy.
Breakfast at Tiffany's interesting to look at from a 1961 movie in what they called colour back then. I found the scenery of 1960's and New York city interesting to watch in itself.

2 great shows. Well Dexter was for few seasons.

Both shows when discovering them they were later seasons so had to back track to borrow the original seasons to get up to date what was going on. I really liked both for different reasons. Dexter took longer to grow on me but when I was hooked watched the whole thing as so many interesting and entertaining characters in the whole show. Fringe probably my favourite series ever along with Curb Your Enthusiasm and Blackadder. Video stores were great for discovering shows that been out a number of years and then binge watching once I knew I liked them.

Good enough, effective comedy. Stephen Frears isn't an exciting filmmaker but he knows what he is doing and his movies aren't without their charms, this is no different.

I agree. Sick as a dog, at home- want nothing more to go down to Blockbuster and rent a heap of old weekly movies for $9.95.

Yeah there sure was a certain charm to having a date night in after ducking out to grab some takeaway and choosing some DVDs off the shelf.

Now it's all ubereats and Netflix!

Our old huge Blockbuster is now subdivided into an Anytime Fitness centre and a Domino's. There's a dilemma waiting to happen.

But to get this back OT. I posted this in the It thread but saw it yesterday and it was very good 8/10. Those kids and their dirty banter killed me, funnier than expected and Skolsgard as Pennywise was terrific.

Broken Hill Plains Video

Used to have a porno castle. That's right, a cardboard castle like something from a children's birthday party, that housed all the porno videos, and adults could browse in peace.

Ironically, they changed the layout and it ended up becoming the kids castle with all the children's movies.

I assume that is what you meant by R. Regular genre movies rated R were just kept on the shelf like normal. I think Robocop used to be an R back in the day. I reckon re-released it was just be an MA.

Australian rating system is pretty good. Must suck to be a puritan conservative American.

Requiem for a Dream is probably my favourite.

Yea I got the symbolism, pretty hard to miss when it was vomited all over the screen.

Didn't care for it fair enough
I thought it was pretty creative.
Also the descent into crazytown was fun to watch
