I watched the Handmaid's Tale via clicking on my Stan account late last night curious to see what the series was that some people mentioned to me here. Turns out it was a movie.
1989 although I was trying to work out what year it was made for half the movie.
I thought i must have been a movie from 1970's as never heard of it.

IT 2017

A little heavy handed with the supernatural / CGI type stuff, but pretty much everything else was spot on. Pennywise the Clown scenes were very effective. Whoever compared it to Stranger Things was on the money, very similar but possibly better acting across the board and a better/funnier script. I loved Stranger Things though so this is a compliment. A thoroughly entertaining horror movie and a fun one to watch at the cinemas.

Beatriz at Dinner

Exactly the movie you'd expect from the people behind Laura Dern's Enlightened. Full of "**** The Man" spirit, although this is - like the best episodes of Enlightened - darkly pessimistic in the face of its cheery deposition. Liked it a lot. In a just world, Salma Hayek would be getting Oscar buzz (even in another stacked year for Best Actress).

The Martian.

Was expecting more but not bad I guess. Good they tried to be scientifically accurate for the most part. Glover's character is obviously autistic.

I put on the DVD of one of my favorite black comedies last night and enjoyed it every bit as much as I did the first time at the cinema back in 1999.

The movie was Drop Dead Gorgeous starring Kirsten Dunst, Ellen Barkin, Allison Janney, Kirstie Alley, Denise Richards, Brittany Murphy and Amy Adams. I am one of very few people who likes this movie, so many people I know who have seen it hated it.

Funny as ****.

Perfect Strangers (2016, Italy)

Part of the Italian Film Festival a couple of years ago i gave it a re-watch.

Friends come to dinner and agree to be open about all the incoming/outgoing calls and texts they get during dinner. Obviously far more drama than in real life, but was a well constructed and acted piece about how much of ourselves we put into a phone. Also, how an outside observer can see it and think that certain parts or thoughts are 100% of who we are. Also secrets and cheating (obviously)

Made me think and feel in a way not many current films do. 8/10
