He has the same level of charisma as ALF from Home & Away!!

As always you’re welcome to your (woefully wrong) opinion.

If he ever stars in a film with Chris Hemsworth, I'm not sure we will be equipped to deal with the consequences of women swooning all around the world. A few men, too.
Hoyts and Village would have to install fainting couches in their cinemas

My favourite book and loved the film too.
I’ve never read the book but I will be in the future.

My wife is away so I’ve been looking after my 3yo son last two weeks and boy does it smack you emotionally. I wonder if I didn’t have a son if it would hit me the same way.

In a similar vein watched Elf yesterday.

I really don’t get why this is so beloved. It’s fine, couple of good laughs but there’s really nothing to elevate it into the classic Christmas territory imo.

Also I don’t HATE Will Ferrel like some do but outside Anchorman, Old School and some cameo stuff (eastbound and down in particular) he’s pretty grating as the lead.

Speaking of Evans

Red One - Prime

The Rock and Evans team up in a buddy movie where they have to save Xmas

Lucy Liu and JK Simmons also join the fun and while both the Rock and Evans dont break into character they are both fine

It would be a good movie for families to watch but not single dads on a kids weekend

Hot Shots - Disney 1991

A direct rip off of Top Gun this has Charlie Sheen as Topper Harley - washed out and living in a sweat lodge being asked to come back to fly one more time

Its a movie of many watches or a decent memory of movie memes and tropes.

Its a fun movie in the Flying High vein

Went to the "BETTERMAN" (2024) Melbourne premiere the other night. A film profiling the work and life to date of Robbie Williams. The Premiere held across 2 cinemas @ Crown and 2 different results from the audience. In the other a 15-minute standing ovation and in ours, polite applause before we all bailed to the exits.

If you like "THE GREATEST SHOWMAN" (2017) also directed by Michael Gracey then you will enjoy this.

To me the film is too much of a montage of music and or dance clips interspersed with a story line to make a film. A Baz Luhrman type film.

2 stand out scenes. The Regent Street dance sequence and the Super Yacht dance scene were both excellent highlights.

Oh, and it's loud. Did I say LOUD!

Out of the three recent biopics including this one I still rank Bohemien Rhapsody (2018) as best followed by Rocket Man (2019) then this.

Does the monkey thing make sense when you watch it?

I've not seen it, but have heard of it being pretty absurd. In particular (and I'll put spoilers even though I think it's just an aspect of Williams' bio),

there's a scene where Williams' girlfriend is pregnant, they go to an abortion clinic and there's meant to be emotional resonance there but there's just a woman holding hands with a ****ing monkey

Anyway, I hated The Greatest Showman and Williams is okay at best for mine so doubtful this is for me either way, as much as some of it sounds very funny to me.

I actually love Robbie Williams, he was the first concert I ever went to back in about 2003. I'm disappointed by the monkey aspect because I think his bio would be really interesting. But I might be being unfair given that I haven't seen it and it could very well work? I dunno.

The part you popped in spoilers sounds ridiculous tbh
