Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum

Not quite a marathon, but watched Identity/Supremecy with a tiny break in between both films earlier today, while I watched Ultimatum through the late afternoon to just before. Enjoy them immensely even though Identity is clearly the best, the other two do well to extend the trilogy.

Can't be arsed watching "Legacy" or Jason Bourne right now.

Watched Die Hard 2 with the boy on Christmas night. It’s fine but it ain’t no Die Hard 1. Some good moments, plenty of nostalgia that lifts it to a a 7/10 whereas it’d probably be closer to a 6.
Contraversial opinion but Die Hard with a vengeance is a more entertaining film than the original (it’s not BETTER but it’s a shitload of fun).

2 I always found to be pretty poor by comparison

Recyling the same chat every time I watch the movies but growing up I loved the original and had a soft spot for 2 (this was way before I knew 3 existed.... in fact I didn't officially see WAV until a few years after it was made and released). Once I saw it I fell in love and it was my favourite in the series... but admittedly at that point it had been a few years since I had seen the first two.

It wasn't until I got the 2 disc special editions of 1 & 2 (2001/2002ish) that I preferred the movies in release order again.

Extra trivia it wasn't the later half of the 2000's that I got my hands on a special edition of With a Vengeance with the alternate ending/deleted scene (McClane has Simon playing Russian roulette with a rocket launcher), doesn't really add much to the film just an interesting way to end it.

Anora

Very good comedy, that final scene really was a home run

Think I've pretty much almost watched all the anticipated 2024 movies. Last one left is Conclave
The Brutalist, but I think we may not get that before 2025 here.

Spy Hard - 1996 - Leslie Nielsen

You get what you expect with a Leslie Nielsen 90s comedy

There are moments and I spent more time looking up cameos than laughing but its a no-brainer on a 2nd day of gorging on left-overs

Not that controversial, 3 got a real reevaluation over the years. On release, the consensus was 1, 2, then 3 because 2 hit similar beats and felt like a Die Hard movie whereas 3 was a different beast. In hindsight, it’s 1, 3, 2, cause 2 is a bit of a rehash and bit run of the mill for that era of action.

eddie murphy. second-hand stocking filler for michael wincott fan wife.

not terrible but movie didn't quite know what it wanted to do. paper-thin writing, laundry list of cop movie tropes and revolves around a relationship that made me feel uncomfortable. the kind of relationship that tommy wiseau would think was well-written and absorbing.
