Day, May, Lynch, Dixon, of which Lynch and Dixon have shown just as much as any key forward their age drafted in the past 3-4 years barring Cameron. I think the suns would be pretty happy with how their talls are developing. Most team would kill to have two let alone 4 KPFs on their list with that much potential.

Also who else could they have drafted instead. The only one I can see really is Darling and he isn't really your traditional key forward. Otherwise GWS just got lucky with how the drafts fell to them with Cameron being a 17yo selection and Patton/Boyd being in the years they had pick 1.

Yep - fair calls.
Gun fwds have fallen into GWS lap - the question in the next 3-4 years is whether GWS midfield can match it with the Suns midfield.

Wouldnt be surprised if it was a Suns v GWS GF in 2017.

They are a team with virtually no finals experience. They will need 2-3 years of solid, consistent finals playing before they can stand up in the high pressure of the big stage in a GF. Not in any way saying they won't have the talent, they will just have to build the finals experience imo.

Going by that logic the 2004 Saints that made the preliminary finals and were 7 points away from a Grand Final, after finishing 11th in 2003, did not open their premiership window until 2-3 years later? They ended up making the prelims again the following year...

A call here or there and they would have made the 2004 Grand Final. How does that not constitute an open premiership window?

Don't spam, *******.

Does anyone see us beating Richmond in Rd 1 @ Metricon Stadium?

It's going to be a good gauge to our season

Its possible but Round 1 form can be tricky and not always representative of true form. At the same time a couple of good wins early can really set you up for a good season (see Port last year)

Two years from Gold Coast's first finals appearance is when they can become a serious threat IMO; once you get there it takes several seasons to adjust and fine-tune things before being able to launch an assault on the flag.

Think they'll play finals next year so that would probably result in their 'flag window' opening in 2017. Play finals this season and winning a flag by 2016 becomes a possibility.

For the suns to be more competitive they need one of their tall forwards to have a breakout year and kick 50 goals not sure who it could be with the injuries they have had. Maybe Dixon?
If that happens and the rest of the list continues developing they should be able to challenge for a top 8 spot in 2015-16 and then top 4 2017-18 and if they get lucky a GF in 2018 otherwise a GF in 2019 the challenge will be who else will be top 4 in that time
