When we win the premiership

Hi All, Ive been reading this board passionately for around 7 years now and supporting the Tigers through thick and thin since around 1980 - I was 6 in 1980. I dont have much of a recollection of the 1980 flag and to be honest Ive not enjoyed for the last 10 years reading about 1980 or previous to that period of success. When the Mrs and kids rang me up two years ago to say they were buying some Richmond memorabilia I told them not to worry about it as none of our current players new anything about success and I was waiting until a Premiership or Brownlow Medallist that I could finally witness before I started to embrace the new era.

I finally think it is here and have given 'permission' for the faithfull to purchase me the Trent Cotchin 40th Captain Jumper and Medallion. Its been tough being a tiger fan, especially if you were born around 1974 - youve basically seen no success whatsoever, my greatest year was 1995. That was now so long ago and 2001, well, I was living in the UK then. Im 38 now and have been supporting the club for 30+ years and actually seen 1 year of finals.

What will happen when we win the Flag? I honestly can't say, but by crikey it will be one hell of an emotional day. I rekon people will be crying and hugging and just being the happiest of happy people. I think it will take a lot for it to actually sink in. Sales of all types of memorabillia will go through the roof and finally the die hard Tiger supporter born in the wrong era will get to celebrate the way we have witnessed just about every other teams supporters enjoy their one day in September for the best part of 30 years.

All I hope is that I had to pay for a life time of no success so my three kids can witness the greatest sporting club dominate the AFL arena for a sustained period of time like no other team has dominated before.

Awesome user name!

been to a few GFs in the last few years. The one thing that gets to me is when the teams run out and when the siren goes for the first bounce. All i can think about is how ******* loud will the roar be when the yellow and black army descends on the G on that day.

Mate, Ive never been to a GF and dont plan on going to one until Richmond make the GF. I may go to the grave without actually having been to a GF but so be it....

Not as loud as a winning prelim at the G because the neutrals thing at the GF

I was born in Sydney in 1979 and didn't move to Melbourne until 1984 so have no recollection at all of any Tigers success.
Then to make things worse, I was overseas for our good year in 1993 with Northey, but did get to enjoy some of 2001 while it lasted.

Can't remember the last time I ever cried, but I probably will when we next win a Grand Final, will probably also do so if we lose one too.

93 started ok with the preseason final against Essendon but the rest of that year was pretty shit! Maybe you mean 94 or 95?

As I keep telling all mates who barrack for the teams, If you're a supporter of another team & it comes to our time you better go inside, lock your doors & hope for the best coz MELBOURNE WILL BE ON FIRE... Literally

Welcome. A wonderful read

I will quit my job and do a line of cocaine bigger than the queue at Centrelink on dole payment day off the centre wicket area at Punt Road oval.

Mark my words I will lose my shit.

Lose.My.Shit.

Nice sentiment, but there is one problem....No more center wicket area since they kicked the cricket club off and relaid the ground. :D

It's getting louder. The noise, the hype, the club is building, getting stronger. Everyone wants to jump on board. People aren't taking the piss, they are taking notice. Here the f?ck we come. Look out. It will be massive. It all started a couple of years back when we recruited the Chimp. Jack won a Coleman, Lids and Chimp AA's. Finals this season and everyone will want to be with the yellow and black. They will have to shut half of Melbourne down if we do win one. My wife knows I will disappear for a whole week and return in a pissed stupor. Bring it on.
