When will Alastair Clarkson get the credit he deserves?

Clarko's as loyal as they come. He leaves when he wants. I hope our club feels the same way.

With yesterday's flag, he surpassed Sheedy and Malthouse, and has entrenched himself firmly in the upper echelon of Hawks coaches along with Kennedy and Jeans.

Im not saying I want it to happen, but if the shit hit the fan in those new franchises, who is there with proven records, when the experimentation is over ?

Just clarko and thompson, maybe lyon

Sheeds has 4 premierships to his name.

Alastair Clarkson is a revelation to AFL football and especially to the Hawthorn Football Club.

He came in with a plan, and martyred himself to whole football world with his diligence and belief in what he was doing for our club.

All the footy experts ridiculed him, but he never wavered.

What a revelation he has been. The Hawthorn Football Club has turned a fairly poor culture (from 1992-2003) into one of the the hardest and most unified club's in the competition.

They not only have a crack, they show immense discipline and work for each other.

They have no right to be 4 and 2. They are a bunch of kids only at the birth of their development. But they are.

This is what team-work and desire does.

The Senior players are loving their footy, the kids are disciplined, hard and tough.

All our kids including Buddy are talking like leaders years in advance of their age.

When will Alastair Clarkson get some credit?

Even watching On The Couch the other night it was as if Walls and Sheehan were holding back. Couldn't say anything good, so kept it brief.

I love Clarko and I am so grateful he came to our club.

Best young coach since Worsfold. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Hodge2KISSFranklin aka the oracle!!

Props brother!!

It's hard to believe that he's never won the coach of the year award.

Da heck!

I think the problem lies in the time of the season that it's announced.

2008 he was up against a coach whose team only lost one game for the entire h&a.

2012 you could make a good argument, last year I thought Hinkley was fair enough, this year I would have given it to either Hinkley again or Clarkson. What did Longmire do that made him special for the year up until that point? Finished top of the ladder after a soft draw and the addition of the best forward in the game, bloody tough that one.

Even as a Swans supporter, I thought Clarko deserved that more than Longmire considering what he and his team had gone through during the year. And that was before the weekend.

It's strange how they jump the gun.

I will never understand why they decide the Norm Smith 10 minutes prior the game actually finishing... Surely it doesn't take that long to compile the votes and work out the winner, why can't they do it literally after the game when it should be done?

It used to be earlier, they changed it after Buckley won it. Forced by Voss turning it on in the last quarter.

This is the AFL we're talking about. They never do anything well.

Sheeds has 4 premierships to his name.

Sheeds won his 4th flag in his 20th year at Essendon after winning his 3rd flag in his 13th.

Clarkson won his 3rd flag in his 10th season at Hawthorn. Clarkson is indeed in illustrious company :)

With respect to Hawthorn coaches he is now our greatest as far as I'm concerned. Took the club from nothing to back 2 back flags (the first coach to lead us to this feat in our history) in a decade. It took Kennedy 16 seasons to reach 3 flags and Jeans just 8 seasons (although Hawthorn was an established power before he arrived - having won 3 flags in the preceding 11 seasons).

Never said he wasn't. He is an outstanding coach.

Just saying he hasn't surpassed Sheeds. If he wins another he does, but until then 4 is greater than 3.
