Sorry Suns but I disagree he is a list clogger that never bought in to the Suns when he was thereSorry Weller Over Dew. Hahaha
But seriously, I think Mav would be solid depth. He is a tough soldier of a player. Never gonna be best 22. But beats bringing in a 19 year old kid who is not ready
Left field but I would be open to Lochie joining Mav at the Saints for pick 2
Ablett could be out for 6 weeks with his hammy now..
They get 14 games +/- finals out of him they'll be happyAblett could be out for 6 weeks with his hammy now..
Unless he comes back and does his shoulder or does his hammy againThey get 14 games +/- finals out of him they'll be happy
Not like he cost them anything
I don't see how he could be a list clogger if he is picked up as a Category A Rookie, plays NEAFL until injuries lead to him getting some games and gives us 2 or 3 years as a veteran. If he is playing in the Senior side it either means our development players aren't ready or our first choice players aren't fit. If the injury list becomes so bad that he is an automatic selection then we are in tanking mode anyway.Sorry Suns but I disagree he is a list clogger that never bought in to the Suns when he was there
Thanks Mr Weller- you sound really proud of the boysI don't see how he could be a list clogger if he is picked up as a Category A Rookie, plays NEAFL until injuries lead to him getting some games and gives us 2 or 3 years as a veteran. Looking at the facts, SUNS got the inside scoop a few weeks ago, then the Suns' interest in Weller was published online and I shared the screenshot. This interest from the Club is, in my opinion, due diligence. The guy is a former Suns player, out of contract, likely to be delisted and reportedly willing to come back to the place under new management. He has family on the GC and his brother now plays in the Senior team. With the likely delisting of some 30+ players, a player of Mav's ability and experience will be needed.
Mav just got selected for St KildaThanks Mr Weller- you sound really proud of the boys
Mate, when I was 22, I was living in Surfers, working in nightclubs and playing up with all the girls you blokes ended up getting married to. You're welcome!Given the age profile of our current list (13 players are 20 and under, plus another 5 Cat A+B rookies are also 20 and under).
Plus a minimum 4 picks inside 40 this year.
Adding a mature player like Mav to the rookie list who can play a role as a fringe AFL player and a good NEAFL player is fine by me. Has been a fringe AFL player last year and this, so would be no surprises and also cheap enough.
And would get one our few write ups in the Melbourne media that is not about players leaving or how crap we are as a club.
Has also been in the leadership group at the Saints so suspect that he has grown up a bit. I mean I was a bit of a tool as a 22 yo. Not as bad as Iva or Boddsy would have been. Not as good as 17er who would have been too busy reading War and Peace or Finnigans Wake. I mean, it must come from somewhere.
Not my girl... she is from ManchesterMate, when I was 22, I was living in Surfers, working in nightclubs and playing up with all the girls you blokes ended up getting married to. You're welcome!
