By better I am meaning ladder position or perceived list.

Owned by:
For the cats right now I am going to nominate Hawthorn. This is a team we have struggled against for the past few years. There will be a lot said about this game if we are on a roll again when we met them. Will also be interesting to see how we go against them now that we know how to play, and so do they!!

WC against the Brisbane teams circa 2001-2004 is one that comes to mind. I dont know the the win loss record but they always seemed to win.

So who has had your teams measure?

Really not what it's made out to be. We lost to them in 06 yes. We lost to a lot of teams badly that year. Then lost by under a kick to them in Tassy with the wind blowing shots heading through the middle out on the full. Lost to the Hawks by less then we did to the Dogs and Roos and they certainly got whacked in the return bouts.

For the most part Richmond have troubled us over the last couple of years.

But really Brisbane have owned us but we haven't been the better team for most of those games.....

Collingwood.

Admittedly, some of the losses are our own fault, like round one this year. Should've in the least been a 6 goal win, yet ended up a 3pt loss. We haven't always been better. In 2002-03 the losses were warranted given they were emphatic, but overall Collingwood have had a good win/loss ratio against us since about 1997, and for the most part, we've been the better side.

West Coast have a far superior win-loss ratio against us, but before anyone perpetuates one of the biggest myths in football, the ledger stood at 2-2 when we were on top of the pile. So often you hear "Brisbane could never beat West Coast even in their premiership years" (just like the OP has done). Not true. We also had superior win-loss ratios against Sydney and Port in those years before anyone mentions the fact (like people regularly do) that we couldn't beat them either.

The whole Geelong - Hawthorn thing is a bit silly. It has been 3 in a row now, and the two losses in 2006 were just pathetic, back when we gave our opponents little respect and paid for it. But go back to the 3 games before that and we gave them 3 10 goal hidings.

Good of you to put it all back into perspective,Doris.!

Although I don't want to speak out of turn - We've consistently been able to chalk up wins against West Coast and Sydney over their past few years when they've been the two best teams in the league, and they haven't beaten us by more than 1-2 goals over that span.

As for us, it'd have to be Richmond and Melbourne.

I'd say nearly every team in the comp! :D:D

But seriously for the last 20 years Geelong have beaten us the majority of the time. And alot of those have been 10 goal plus wins. But i suppose we havent been a better side than them for alot of that time.

North Melbourne clearly would be Essendon's. Since 2001 we haven't beaten them. Sure the last couple of years we have have been worse than them but before that when we were still a decent finals side we didn't manage to beat them. Although to be fair, the results are somewhat skewed in that we have only versed them once per year i believe since 01. Hopefully next season where the early draft shows us vsing kangas twice, we might be able to actually get over the line and end their period of dominance over us.

Yep, haven't beaten Sydney in Sydney since 1993, and used to always come away with frustrating 2 goal wins, despite neither side having any ascendency all game.

St Kilda used to pull the occasional one out of their arse in the mid 90's too. The '95 game out at Waverley, which if you believe some people, paid for the end of season trip, the game in 97 where Gavin Mitchell of all people tore the Blues a new one, and a few others where Harvey was just unstoppable.

Record against the Dees in finals over the past 20 years hasn't been flash either.

Port Adelaide 4 us, dead set we couldn't beat them if we started with 10 extra goals
:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Wait's for Saints supporters to nominate the Power too :)

North Melb had a good early record over the Power, but it's in our favour in recent times.

Adelaide the opposite, we had a much better early record, now it's swapped around, we're still leading though :D

And historically, Carlton in friggen GFs.
