Armstrong. This is a kid that has a bad game and kicks three goals. He is just a natural all round forward.

He’s also the kid who had by far the best midfield and defence giving him a multitude of opportunities and only averaged 9 touches a game.

I wouldn't mind taking a punt on a player line James Barrat with our last pick.

194cm, 3.01 20m sprint, 8.29 agility makes him a very good athlete and plays with a lot of aggression. Played midfield at times. Kicked 22 goals @3 per match as a forward, settled in defence. B&F Pioneers winner. Senior footy at 14. They say he plays like Balta but a touch of Rance in there as well.

Could be worth a punt and at 194cm and a good mark, he could turn into a proper marking forward (or back).

I really want Barrat with one of our later picks!! I hope we keep sliding back for futures and nab him in the 30s.

wouldnt have thought a kpf key indicators would include racking up touches.

Don’t expect him to be racking up touches but his competition for KPF

J. Whitlock - 16
Shannahan - 13
Faull - 13
Sims - 12

So he’s finding the ball 30% less than his contemporaries despite probably getting greater and more accurate supply from his midfield (Ashcroft, Reid, Oliver, Trainor, Marshall etc.)

Don’t get me wrong I like him and think he’s probably a shade better than those other guys, he’s a beautiful kick, brilliant at ground level and has shown the ability to take a big mark. But I’m not convinced on his football nous and don’t think he’s as competitive or works as hard as Faull.

He also gets a lot of his goals out the back or just sitting in space on a bad turn over as opposition try to clear 50 and then Ashcroft or Reid cut them up.

Armastrong's 5 goals in the Champs which got a lot of attention were 2 easy chest mark, 1 free kick, 1 uncontested mark and 1 good contested mark. (Did take another good contested grab on the wing), but he had 9 possessions, not exactly dominant.

What I like about him is he just kicks goals, rain hail or shine. If he's covered in the air he adapts and kicks groundball goals. If he needs to get up the ground and take relief marks he does. He just finds a way to impact. I see that transferring favourably to senior level.

Of course I haven't seen him live so I'm not really making a judgement on him, just really commenting on that game which was okay. Does have a good all round game, I guess we have been spoilt at Richmond for so long with key forwards we expect the next Richo, Jack or Lynch as our talls, which doesn't seem the case.

Our recruiters have will have watched all the talls in this draft very thoroughly because our need a succession forward has been pretty obvious and we have been playing patch up, Lefau, Gray. If they go early on Armstrong or any key forward, I'm sure they will be well enough informed.
