Which player will be the "should have retired last season" player this year?

Look, I understand lads, I really do, it must be hard to see someone humiliate you so many times and keep going strong. But try not to confuse being a whinger with having a legitimate opinion.

He has kicked 40+ goals every year for the last five years and would very comfortably be in the top 20 kpfs in the game, and he hasn't missed a game through injury in five years. Why would he retire?
Let's be honest, the only person he was humiliating was himself by having a sook about the opinions of others. Made a goose of himself, they had a legitimate opinion which he couldn't accept as being their belief. It isn't ridiculous to predict a 37/38 year old will drop off dramatically, it's actually quite logical.

For what it's worth, I think Harvey will continue to play well and is every chance to play 2017. Still a match winner on his day and often sees a tag which is amazing at his age.

Not including finals, Pavlich only played three more games than Riewoldt this year. Granted Riewoldt played a lot more around the ground but this hasn't equated to a massive differential in disposal or tackle counts over Pavlich

Also, anyone watching our forward line closely can see how much Pavlich was working to create space for Taberner, Pearce, and Clarke. Unfortunately they're not exactly of the same quality of Bruce Mccartin and Membrey though.
Pav was the focal point and was played as a lead up fwd. Player development went out the window in place of chasing a flag, hence why tabenar was dropped and players like langdon, blakely, weller got **** all game time

Roo was not the focal point and was played everywhere mainly to develop the other talls

Roo has another year of good footy in him. Pav is cooked and the club had to beg him to come back

That's pretty interesting and all, but in essence my comment was that I can't stand bloody Boomer. I just don't like him.

Why this triggers some kind of exotic neurosis of unrelated gibberish on your part will remain a mystery that I have no intention of trying to solve.

Can't stand bloody Boomer.

I'm not really sure which "he" you're referring to as I quoted three different posters in that post so yeah, not sure what's the go with what you're saying there. None of them actually expressed the opinion that Boomer might drop off next year, just that they wish he would retire already, which to me is a big neon sign saying "I'm tired of getting torn apart by this guy every time we play North". Which is not really an opinion, it's a whinge.

Hard to say when it will come to an end for Boomer, it depends on how well his body holds up. He had a slow start in 2015 but that was largely due to being player as a defender which BS thought was a good idea apparently. When he got switched back into his proper role his form was as good as it's ever been, especially in finals. 2016 could be the year things start to go pear shaped on him, could be a few years away yet. But I can't see any realistic case for why he should have retired this year when all indications are that he's going fine.

If you haven't noticed this is not a thread asking which players you "can't stand". I know for a fact there are at least a couple of main board threads that deal with that exact question, so why not take it to one of them? It's a thread about players whose form suggests they should've retired at the end of 2015 rather than play on in 2016. Despite his age Boomer's continuing good form puts him well and truly outside that equation. Whether you like him or not, no one cares - it's not relevant to the topic at hand.

As for why people don't like it when you sledge players in a thread that is not about sledging players, I'm sure the "mystery" would become apparent to you if I said say that Nathan Jones is a rubbish footballer who wouldn't get a game anywhere else and should've give up the game years ago to focus on perfecting his baldness. Except I wouldn't say that because a) not true, great footballer and great bloke and b) it's not a thread about randomly potting or hating on players.

Another one.

Boomer is legitimate as potentially hanging on too long based on age. I don't think that is a bizarre view.

I would rather see him fade in 2016 then others proposed, Riewoldt & Pav, because in the magical future that nobody can predict, I would like to see them hang on rather than Harvey. The fact that I don't especially like Harvey is possibly an editorial, but what makes you the appointed police officer on this thread? If your concern is just this, fine. I think Boomer's form may drop in 2016.

:thumbsu: fair enough then. I don't share your concern, but at least you're expressing an opinion rather than just barracking for a player to fail.

Also, I found a police officer badge in my cereal.

Has Morris shown any evidence of this though.

Was going to say something similar, with most older players you can see a decline starting/progressing, but he hasn't. He missed a couple of months with a shoulder injury but with some good management he has 2yrs left minimum with us

Why are so many people jumping on Pavlich over Riewoldt, considering they averaged comparable numbers in disposals, tackles, and goals? Riewoldt has Pav covered for marks, but I'd say they're both as likely as each other to have gone on one year too long next year.
You would have to agree if Riewoldt played in Fremantle this year he would have much better numbers than Pav.

If is a loaded word. If Pavlich was playing for St Kilda as the second forward behind Bruce then he would have much better numbers as well.

Regardless of numbers in 2015 anyway, I'd say they're both equal chances of having gone one season too long this year.
