Polak - We need him as a tall decoy that can also bring the ball to ground.

Roberts - I think his excitement will drag a lot of people through the gates, and we're desperate for a player of his type.

Not sure if there is a way to post multiple options, so I guess it's the one rookie you want in the poll and then write the two you want elevated.

Agreed, but hopefully Goo will get a look-in sooner rather than later given his promising display against Hawthorn. If Polak and Roberts are the nominated rookies to replace our non-existent veterans, does that mean they can't be dropped back to the rookie list in favour of someone else at a later stage?

Polak & Gourdis for mine. Both have been in the system for a number of years and it is effectively now or never for them in terms of having long term careers. Someone like Roberts has time on his side and could be elevated in round 11 of form warrants.

I'm in the Roberts & Polak camp but wish we could elevate Gourdis as a 3rd.

These 3 are way ahead of the others at the moment and although I agree with Mario that Polak won't be any sort of long term forward solution, now that we have him on our books, & with all the effort (his & ours) that has gone into his rehabilitation, he should get the nod.

Roberts is a must to provide that extra dimension to our forward 50.

Once again I find myself agreeing with Roachy, and (kinda, sorta) by extension, Mario. Also need to point out to RT that Roberts is two years older than Goo.
Understand that RATD, my point of view is Gourdis has been in the system for 3 years now and if he can't crack it for a spot now then what is the point persisting with him. I'd prefer to give Roberts the first half of the season at Coburg to get himself in better shape and then come round 11 elevate him to the list.

I get where you're coming from RT. I say if Roberts is good enough to play now, play him. But then I'm like Roachy in wanting to elevate three of them. There are certainly arguments for all three. 'Hack' calls on Polly notwithstanding, he will provide important protection for our young forwards and it seems he will be elevated. Roberts appears to have 'it' and Goo definitely did not look out of place against the Hawks - as already discussed he looked miles better than his contemporary Rance.

Roberts and Polak

:)Clearly comes down to Roberts v Gourdis as Polak has been assured a spot already.

For mine the x-factor of Roberts gives him the nod and gives us something other than two more talls.

Think Roberts could be a potential drawcard if the report in The Sunday Age was true about him being escorted from the field after being inundated by autograph hunters!!!

Don't want to say it, but Gourdis will get his chance soon enough - we ain't escaping without a season ending injury at some stage in 2010.

Very exciting player who will only get better with more AFL games under his belt, and under the tutorledge of HARDWICK. :thumbsu:

I could be wrong but isn't there also an opp to promote a rookie at round 11 too? IF this is true I'd wait promote Roberts and polak now and if we have injuries down back come round 11 promote the Goo!!!

Roberts to be promoted.

I do not want Polak to be promoted.

This decoy mantra smacks of desperation, Kent Kingsley revisited.

Why stop a young forward from playing/learning, the sooner we get games into our young players the better.

Playing Polak does not do this and will be seen in hindsight as a blunder.

Polak is only 25 and we need someone his size competing up forward, plus he's not a total hack as some have been saying. I wouldn't say he's just a decoy, he's another tall option. My only fear is if he's missing goals, then what do we do with him?

We don't have any other young forwards to fill his position. What do you recommend we do, play Nason at FF?

Exactly Spluff. As long as there is a plan on how he is to be used, and the mids can have some system delivering inside 50, then it's not all doom and gloom.

Noone is suggesting he'll be a Coleman medalist in our next flag assault, but as long as he's not just told to "float around the goal square and see what he can do", he's possibly the best option we have for now.
