Which team out of Adelaide, North and Hawthorn has the better youth? Part 2

This just proves these “journalists” don’t actually watch the teams close enough.

Jones will be a reasonable player for a long time. But for example Soligo has already surpassed him and on his way to being an A grade (not elite) midfielder.
I can only imagine the reactions any Hawk poster would get if we said Connor MacDonald was on his way to being an A grade mid.

Yep. Very optimistic viewpoint which could prove true but evidence to this point doesn’t support it.

But in any case it’s in relation to someone outside of the club rating the younger players and most neutral fans wouldn’t see Soligo as a likely a-grader at this point in time.

We did bring in older mature players using those handouts - Logue, Tucker, Fisher and Stephens. The rest of our draft hand is down to good trading by the people responsible.

You'll be happy to know the same developmental risk factors that have impacted the club for nearly a decade have been moved on and the kids are no longer vulnerable to their inability to develop players like Larkey, Simpkin, Davies-Uniacke and Bailey Scott.
So you think the AFL went “they may have the best youth in the league (inadvertently proving current equalisation measures are optimal whereby a poor ladder position is rewarded in the draft) but we should give them more draft picks to really ensure they’re a powerhouse for the next decade”?

Also outside of Logue I don’t think that list of mature players really suggests they’re actively improving their mature aged bracket.

WTactualF do AFL interventions have to do with our midfield?
Why do you bother Ferbs, especially when it’s a Blardy Swan fan.
I wish we could have got a Blakey via our academy. Amazingly without the swans academy he’d have been lost to football.
Probably had never heard of this weird sport of ours.
So credit where credit is due.

Sheezel had 34 disposals in his first game 100 days after he was drafted they can hardly take much credit
And Wardlaw has played 8 games. Looked good in some, average in others. Wouldn't say he is a developmental success just yet

Any team that supposedly had/has the best youth in the league would not need to ask the AFL for an intervention in improving their list. It’s that simple. The handouts weren’t used to improve the “mature players” on your list, they were used to bring in yet more youngsters who are vulnerable to the same developmental risk factors that have impacted the club for nearly a decade.

Last years “handouts” were literally used to to get mature players as that’s all they could be used for

This years were traded to bring in stephens and fisher to provide some much needed outside run. And also improve our draft hand.

Sooooooooo strike 2………..

It was obvious. We need another big tall back.
Supply and demand is what his price is there for, not talent

We offered one of those players a several year contract on huge money, and the other a one year deal - despite him being the only KPD (with any potential long-term future) on the list.

What do you reckon that suggests?

Haven’t had a sub 80% percentage finish for 19 years 2004. Last one before that? 1967
It would be denying history
Cant imagine a run of such depressing seasons
Well thats nice to hear.

Its like saying everyone sank the boots on freo in 2016 when they were 0-10 and crippled with injuries. Ended up 16th with 4 wins and 18 losses. I am still bitter how that dockers 2016 season panned out.

dockers averaged 73 points in attack and conceded 96 points in defence.

dockers in 2017 were better. 8 wins and 14 losses and 14th. averaged 72 points in attack and conceded 98 points in defence.

Dockers won a few close games in 2017. I didnt care, I wanted to avoid going 0-10 and another 4 win season at all costs.

How many years since Hawthorn won a final? It could get to 10 years.....like Carlton. That would hurt wouldn't it?
glad you brought this up....

Hawks last finals win was the grand final win in 2015.

Saying that, I said this to many dockers fans this time last season.

When freo made the finals in 2022, I was glad we got 5th instead of 4th. Dont get me wrong, 4th is good with the double chance. Freo got 5th and won their elim final vs the dogs this time last year, 1st finals win since 2015. I did savour that finals win. Because at that point, the dockers last finals win was back in 2015. Hawks and North Melbournes last finals win was 2015 as well.

had dockers got 4th, dockers would of got smashed vs the cats in the qulaifying final then lost to magpies or swans in a semi final in perth.

So yeah.... Glad freo got 5th and won a final than got 4th and lost 2 finals like Port in 2023. Had Freo got 4th, they would of went out in straight sets and looking at possibly a 10 year period of no finals wins, dating back to 2015.

It could get to 15. Luckily the club made the right call on Clarkson to give us the best chance of getting back there as soon as possible.

you dont wanna do what the swans did.

South melbourne made a grand final in 1945. last finals win as South Melbourne. Next finals win was when they made another grand final... 1996. So from 1946-1995, swans didnt get one finals win.

What? Leaking that report?

Vampire club feeding off the misery of western suburbs pokies...

Are you referring to Hawthorn? Cos like North, Hawthorn have thankfully completely divested from pokies. Should have happened sooner but we are pokies free in 2023 and beyond.

I don't think Hawks were tanking, I think they're just crap

Ha ha, I like the cut of your jib.

Incidentally, how many years do you think it will take before North finally finish higher than Hawthorn with their elite youth? Given we are at 16 years already, I'm guessing we get to at least 20.

Step 1 is perhaps winning half as many games as our crap club - didn't happen in '22 or '23 but I reckon '24 could be the year!

Yeah i know, well done too. (finally.)

Some posters persist with the same tired bullshit myths so i was just trying that attitude on for size.
