2 games against Richmond and a game against North to come

I think the timing of when we play Richmond will make a difference as they are going this poorly due to a ridiculously long injury list but they are expecting a number of key players back in the next few weeks (Lynch, Taranto, Hopper, etc.). I expect they'll be a lot more competitive after that.

I'm not necessarily expecting we win all 3 of those games but am certain we'll win at other times, even as underdogs.

Improvement was always a possibility even though I thought otherwise.

It was delusional to think it was guaranteed. There were some Hawks supporters that could not fathom stagnating or going backwards (which still could happen this year or over the next few years).

Time will indeed tell.

Absolutely "could" happen - Carlton are a perfect example of this where they 'threatened' to improve multiple times, only to bottom out even worse than before.

So yes, not "guaranteed" to improve but was absolutely more likely than not - which was my point at the time. Certainly not a 'delusional' view to suggest a slight incremental improvement from a very young team (especially one that had improved over the season and meaningfully recruited to its weakest area - i.e. forwardline).

Thing is -as much as the Carlton experience is a cautionary tale - it should not be confidently expected that other teams do it as poorly as they did.

Something tells me my prediction will be a little bit closer than “finals” and “14 wins” like some of your buddies, but time will tell.

I think winning 8 games and once again avoiding the elite end of the draft would be stupid, but good on the Hawkies for proving me and everyone else wrong by finishing just outside the bottom 4 9 years out from their last finals win. I will lose my account because of it so there’s that

On this point something I've been chuffed with for Hawthorn the past month. Go back 12 months and we were so disfunctional without Lewis and Sic. This year Sic has messed 2 in the last month and Lewis most if the season but we have managed. This is huge step forward for our group.

Mitchell is clearly getting most out of the team & look a far more difficult project than North, Richmond & West Coast.

Should be a good game this weekend.
