Lewis, Nash, Moore, Worpel constantly mentioned in this thread. It’s clearly not about youth anymore. It’s about Hawks supporters wanting a pat on the back for finishing 16th 8 seasons out from their last finals win.
You know who else gets mentioned in this thread? Weddle, Mitchell, Day, Ward, Macdonald, Mackenzie, Blanck. There is plenty of youth on top of our geriatric 24 year olds.

Little bit like Keane, Hinge, Milera, Jones and Murphy. Even McAdam gets a mention.

Depends which poster wants the parameter to suit their argument.

Youth is relative, 3 or those four players are 24, the 4th only just turned 25 a couple of weeks ago (Moore turned 24 a week ago).

Carlton's average age in their win yesterday was 26 years 3 months, so compared to Carlton's average player the 4 you mentioned are all relatively young.

Good wins against top 8 sides by a very young list should get pats on the back for the players, coaches and recruiters. 16th is not great, but is in fact above par for where most picked us to finish this year. Despite losing a bunch of experience in the off season (some of it involuntarily) , we still have some chance of equalling last year's number of wins (a win against Freo at the G in the final round is not completely out of the question, Melbourne next week perhaps a bit beyond us).

While 8 years without winning a final is a very long time for a Hawthorn fan (in fact it is a longer gap than our average gap between flags during my lifetime), I'm sure we'll cope. While our last finals win was a whole 8 years ago, it was the the final leg of a three peat, and that brings a little patience. In the meantime, we've been enjoying watching the development of our young list (including the 24 and 25 year olds). What do Clarton fans cling onto in tough times these days? Being let into the 2013 finals series only because Essendon were caught drug cheating? Slim compensation. Perhaps you'll trump that this year.

Are you just mad that Newcombe is essentially Patty Cripps with better athletic traits and likely a higher ceiling?

Threads not about Carlton

You should stop saying that. While the thread title is not about Carlton, I'm sure you can see how Carlton might be deemed relevant to a thread about young teams with a lot of early picks. Surely all three club's recruitment and youth development people would be following a "Don't do what Carlton did" strategy (at least for their first few rebuilds, looking at the last few weeks, perhaps they've finally got a rebuild right?).

Nah. You are a troll man.

Day is alright if we're being honest though.

Newcombe, Day and Kosi all 22 or under at the start of the year. Moore was 23. That is 4 of our best 6 today.

Worpel is 24 and Amon is 27. Need Reeves was brilliant at 24 and with a fraction of the games as English.

We also played great football without Sicily shining which is very rare for this season and very promising.

If you’re going to be such a “pillar of knowledge” of everything AFL & your list… then get it right.

Third youngest.

16th ranked at average age 23.8.
No 2nd youngest according to the AFL.

But semantics.

Comparing average age of the squad to ladder position... comparing relative performance for the age of the squad...

+5 Adelaide 17th v 12th
+2 Hawks 18th v 16th
-4th Kangaroos 13th v 17th

Best
+7 Port & Essendon
+6 Sydney

Worst
-10 Geelong
-9 West Coast, Gold Coast, Richmond

Going into this year there was some anxiety uncertainty and a bit of fear but the way I wanted the year to pan out and see the young list develop ……… mission accomplished thank you Sammy and the HFC 🙏 The future is bright

This is fun!

Again the youngest side to run out this weekend.

No hawks board bitching about which senior players need to retire or move sidewards to pave the way.

No concerns on who’s going to leave a big hole when they retire.

No heavy reliance on one particular forward to kick a bag.

Since Blanck came back from concussion he just gets the job done.
Hardwicke elite.

Deep midfields win flags.

Box Hill flying.

Genuine love for the way Sam presented the year and delivered.

Oh how it sucks to be us.

He would want to be, as the other Hawks under 24’s aren’t pulling their weight like he is.
If you want to troll you need to add truth to be affective.

You think you're getting under neath Hawthorn supporters skin but reality theyre laughing at you.

Not trolling.

The Hawks, led by Newcombe, Day, and the over 23 year olds, should be proud of finishing 16th. Everyone tipped them to be bottom 2 so to finish the season 3rd last should be considered a success.

Yes damn those 24 and 1.5 week old players like Moore. They are over the cliff now.

I get your point but the big question is: will people be tipping Hawthorn to finish bottom 2 next season?

If your going to reply again answer that question.
